I feel cheated. I couldn't do it on my 2013 and now I find it can't be done on my 2020.

Got both images uploaded and the start up image works but I don't know if the screen off image works yet because I can't figure out how to turn off the screen on a 2017... How do you turn off the screen only on a 2017? The "Screen Off" button is not at the bottom center of the Settings page.

Is it different in a 2017?

    It should be....

    Home

Upper right hand gear image (settings)

Center bottom screen, left arrow, screen off, right arrow

Upload a pic if you can, maybe someone will see something that you're missing.

This is exactly right. Can't believe I missed it. Thank you so much for your help and Merry Christmas.
This is what I used for my screen off image...

Hey, sorry if this was said somewhere else but this thread has gotten long. I just uploaded three tonight to my screen off. Can you do more than three? I see you can delete just the blank screen to give four but I'd love to have a ton to choose from.

Wow I just read through this whole thread...

"Borrowed" a couple photos to start my library...

Then get to the end of the thread...

And find it doesn't work for 2020. Bummed...

For everyone's future reference, a bit of Google-fu can easily give you a fresh look. Note that the usual disclaimers regarding copyrighted images applies, yadda, yadda...

Go to the Google search page in your browser, and in the search field enter imagesize:1280x679 followed by whatever subject matter you are want, for example: imagesize:1280x679 toyota trd logo
You may notice several images from this thread! When you right-click on the desired image and select Save-As be sure it is actually a jpeg (.jpg) file and that the filename is not super long. You can rename it if necessary. I have not yet tried, but you *might* be able to download diferent image file types and save them with a .jpg extension and it *might* work also, depends on the code they are using to run the HU. If anyone tries that please let us all know. Finally, you copy up to three of these images into the properly-named folders on your USB stick and have at it! Note that you can get more results if you play a bit with the image size values if you don't care about a 1 or 2 pixel border or truncation.

My files uploaded, but there is nothing that actually shows when I power up my truck. My first Tacoma mod failed!

Is the file formatted for "FAT32" and named according to the directions? Also the flashdrive must otherwise be empty

Yep, it uploaded correctly. I just have no Screen off or load images as others are showing. Mine did not even show the toyota logo on start up.

As in when you go through the truck menu to select images, nothing is there? Yet when you hit "upload images" it tells you it loaded them successfully?

I guess let me ask this. When are you seeing the Screen off image and when are you seeing the start up image?

You see the start up image for a brief few seconds when you first turn the truck on.

The screen off image you will if in the general menu, you hit the gear looking button and select "screen off"
