UTAH (and Surrounding Areas) BS Thread

That's funny -

I have some friends that were born and raised Utah Mormons that left the state 30 years ago for their careers. They recently returned to Utah and have become inactive, because in their words "the Utah Mormons are insufferable."

 

Have some LDS friends from WA and CA before I ever moved here that said the same.

 

In college I lived in the dorms at the U. I had an LDS buddy from NY that came here to be near the motherland. He was surprised how uptight the locals were too. He was completely OK with going to the bars as the designated driver. We kept his glass full of soft drinks and he kept us from getting DUI's. Pretty fair deal if you ask me.

 

I may have used my boss as a DD on a work trip once...in my defense, it was HIS boss' idea for a nightcap after a company dinner and rode back with us.

 

I have done that for many of my coworkers over the years. They buy me all the Dr. Pepper and snacks I want, and I drive when they are ready to leave.

This happened yesterday in Southern Utah. I genuinely hope this wasn't someone on here. Because, Im not a violent person, but I will happily slash tires and key a pretty truck. What an asshole.

Unfortunately, younger guy with a tacoma and a mtb describes like 1/3 of the state. But I'm glad you'd stick to keying paint and slashing tires.

Lotta deep unmarked mine shafts around these parts...

 

Why stop at keying paint and slashing tires? I need a good object for target practice!! Let me know!

 

I would happily contribute to the disappearance of said person once found.

Preface
You'll note pretty quickly that this trip took place right near the beginning of what has become a worldwide Covid-19 pandemic. At the time of the trip, there had been approximately 600 cases and 24 deaths across the USA. 18 of those deaths were from the Life Care assisted living community in Kirkland, WA. Schools at all education levels were still open, and while some companies were starting to allow employees to work from home, it was not widespread, and definitely not mandated. There were no travel restrictions - or even really talk of such restrictions on a broad scale - in place. We were healthy, and hadn't had any high-risk contacts.

I say this to give some perspective, since things have clearly changed since then.

Day 1
Leaving home for adventure was a little different this time. Looking back now, as we headed south out of the Seattle area, we were leaving behind what would turn out to be one of the early epicenters of the Covid-19 outbreak, just before more info on the severity would come to light and large-scale cancellations and closures would become part of our world's lives. This was a trip like no other - and not because it would be full of amazing hikes and petroglyphs galore!

Anyone here rebuild shocks for fun? I've got a set of Icon 1st gen taco shocks that need some TLC.

 

I sent my 16" bypasses to Midnight 4x4 for re-plating and rebuilding two weeks ago. Hopefully the end of this week I get them back this week and get the truck rolling again.
