To those who are still working in the public.

Our local supermarkets, gas stations, mail persons, delivery drivers, Wal-Mart, trash collection, Amazon, etc.
These people are some of the lower paid people out there to keep everyone else going.

Our first responder’s who give everything they have to help others.

I personally am not working due to a stay at home and feel bad that I can afford to not work.
My wife is a nurse and my daughter a manager at a local supermarket.
I worry about the exposure they both
have on a daily basis.
As do they.
Yet they still continue to do it daily.

And to here about how some people are treating the people at their jobs is just shameful.

It’s not the persons behind the
registers fault they don’t have toilet paper.
It’s not the nurses fault you can’t bring 15 people in with you.
My local liquor store a person was upset because a special order didn’t arrive on time.


I am looking to set up a blood drive and I’m prolly gonna volunteer to deliver soap/sanitizer with the taco that a local company is producing and giving out to those who need it.
It would be a bulk drop and not handing it out individually.

Please take a second to think about those who are at work to keep the rest of us from running out of food tp gas beer, etc.

The situation we are all currently in, if not affected directly, we are affected. Those often forgotten or less thought of are the spine of this country. Imagine if they were not there. Take a moment and think about it.
Next time you see one of them, see if you can buy them a cup of coffee.

No worries man, it’s crazy everywhere. Your wife has one of the toughest jobs in this whole thing. Nurses definitely don’t get the respect they deserve.

 

I agree as of now it’s been not horrid on the wife. This will change and they are prepping for it as much as they can.
My daughter and those in the stores have little to no protection.
But I must say that without naming PC.
They are trying and will be installing shields at registers. They have also been able to maintain hand sanitizers and cleaners to workers.

People need to take this shit seriously or it will get out of control.
I wish deeply NY can dig out or we all are screwed!

 

The PD I retired from has 42 officers with Kung flu. The first responders are the ones that will still be in harms way when every other person on earth is locked in their home. I am glad I retired but worry about my brothers.

 

News says 300 nypd infections.
I have not seen any #s on health care folks.

I gave my wife the option of getting done before it hits the fan.
She didn’t even think about it.
We are not far from retirement and she was asked to be the one who deals with the poor souls who have little to no hope.
God bless her she’s my hero.
My daughter as well, being in the public all day.
The wife had her scrubs on the other day and had to stop at the supermarket for her mom.
The thanks and thoughts were touching she said. Lack of personal space not so much.
But don’t forget the rest of America out there dealing with the public not knowing.

I worry about my girls.
My daughter has called in tears and my wife has also.
My daughter has taken TP from her house to give to give a older couple.
We don’t hoard so she was running low also.

I did purchase some n95 masks (50) seems too many hospitals are running out.
I want some for the wife later if and I hope not she needs them.

I've worked in a hospital for 26 years. I figure it's part of the job. We have a respiratory therapist who's called in sick for over a week now. He has not been seen by anyone, just doesn't want to come to work. I hope he gets fired.
On a positive note, I haven't heard of any instances of people acting an ass to workers in the community here, although I'm sure it does happen.

Well, crap. This post didn't age well 4hrs later. We ask that you please be understanding. Honking, yelling, screaming, or shouting insults and vulgarities will not result in our staff servicing you at the window.

 

We are all human beings in this. The one's that are ignorant, rude and selfsh at a time like this. Are ignorant, rude and selfish at the best of times. They're just more so now.

l have always had respect for those that keep society going, which in reality is all of us. We all play a part in keeping the system rolling along. No matter what the job. Be respectful to everyone.

But some in these hard times are more exposed to getting sick than others, merely by the nature of their job that requires them to constantly be in contact with other people. Show them a bit more respect and appreciation as they are on the front lines of this.

l retired two years ago after 29 years as a LEO. l feel guilty for not being there to help the public and my fellow officers.

Instead of being ignorant, rude and selfish. How about just say 'Thank You'. That's what l do. Say thanks and give a smile and show that person that the job they are doing is appreciated.

The last few days the wife has had covid patients.
My daughter has had to call the cops twice due to ignorant shoppers either not following new guide lines or harassment of others.

The wife is what she says and is ready to help people. And is ready and willing to go to work.
Never would have thought my girls would be in this spot!!
I give all our folks out there keeping us going a big thank you!

The wife was running late and got busted speeding. The officer gave her a lecture after asking what she did and where she was going.
Ran her stuff and says to her you know we need you!!
Slow down and be careful he told her.
And then he said thank you twice and have a good day.

I'm more aware than ever about being kind and patient with anyone who's out working right now.

Really proud of my wife too. She has made 25 masks for various friends and coworkers...including an elderly couple across the street.

Elastic is impossible to find right now, for obvious reasons. So she has been cutting it out of old bed sheets. She has lots of material around and has been customizing some of them. I'm impressed with her work. They're very professional looking
