Hey does anyone know of anywhere that is open to camping in california? I live on the central coast and am just going for the weekend any 4x4 trails or BLM land would be great since a lot of the forests are closed.

I get where you are coming from but if anything I'm helping right now I live with my parents and work so I am trying to stay away from them as much as possible and camping takes me away from people

Camping sounds great. Just keep in mind that many small towns do not have the healthcare infrastructure to handle a pandemic that affects the whole town. So if you do go, which I have nothing against, make sure you carry enough supplies and gas to limit the amount of contact you would have with the small communities.

But staying home would be the best decision.

I'll keep that in mind. If not for going camping now if anyone has and suggestions on cool spots that you have been to before any input would be appreciated!

I would only camp out on private land if you can get permission. I see no problem other then using your own supplies and isolating yourself. Be aware. If you need medical help you’re stressing the system and yourself .

no need to go off camping, if your getting cabin fever just fill up the gas tank, pack some snackables and go for a day trip and come home

Good idea. Wife and I before kids used to back pack . When the kids moved out, we moved into the woods. So I know how poster feels. Nothing like nature. But In these times, I like your solution best.

I noticed a few guys here packed up their campers and went out just before the self quarantine or quarantine in place order, its a little too late to try a full on escape to the woods deal at this point I think, maybe?

You're not going to get support. I don't give up my spots to people that I trust. I certainly won't give them to someone thinking about violating a stay at home order. Stay home till all this shit blows over and then ask your question again. I bet you find people much more agreeable then.

Just go camp on some state or national forest land an enjoy life. If you’re worried about the virus buy your supplies near home and don't hang out with the locals wherever you end up. Most people won't give up their cool spots easily but if you just want to get out and explore you'll find your own.
