I recommend trying not to pigeon hole yourself in a subcompact area. We live in a state that allows open carry. Shoot what feels best and you do the best with. Concealing is a secondary problem. I have a few full size, compact and subcompact. I’ll carry my 1911 or cz 75 p-01 long before a subcompact because I’m not as accurate or trusting in something without bludgeoning capability.

 

Still need to get a gun someday...is that considered essential?

Your job is considered essential, nothing wrong with making a stop on the way to or from work...

 

I can need milk and go to the store for that and stop on the way I guess. Only thing that has guns nearby is a bimart and d&b supply....

 

Like @Crow_of_judgement said, hi point makes some of the most awful looking guns that shoot well and every time. The price point is really good on them too.

Just go. I'm sure every officer won't mind if you tell them your on your way to purchase a gun. Every sheriff in Virginia announced they wouldn't enforce the unconstitutional firearm laws passed by Ralph Northam a few months ago

The closest I get to subcompact is a Remington p51, single stack 9mm. 7+1.
