    Hi Everyone,

    So I’m taking my 2015 in for it’s 6 month service, to get my winter tires swapped out on the 31st. I was also told they need to check out all the differential fluids and what not. Total will be about 800$ Canadian, I was told I didn’t need to do everything all at once since I don’t currently have $800 to drop at the moment. Just wondering what you all suggest I should get done first if it needs to be done.

    Now is better than ever to get yourself comfortable with working on your truck. Some basic tools and you can do these yourself for the cost of the fluid and a weekend. There's threads on TW that will walk you through doing these.

    Good for you for having it serviced as needed. Find a trusted independent. Dealer's have a huge overhead to cover.

    It's comical how much dealerships charge for services. The dealerships around me charge similar prices for case services.
    If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, I urge you to go and find an independent Toyota mechanic. But I do urge you to do this yourself. It can get messy, but a good learning experience and you will save $$$$$$. Our trucks are some of the easiest vehicles to work on.

    One more tip, make sure you open the FILL plugs before the DRAIN plugs. Problematic when that darn transfer case fill plug gets rounded out after you already drained out all the fluid...

    Thank you all for the responses. It’s an automatic, currently just over 36,000km on it. I have a few friends that know a lot more about this kind of stuff then I do, I sent them the quotes and they said the prices are about right. Yeah the dealerships do enjoy bending you over, my truck isn’t hard done by. Mostly city driving and some backroads in the winter for work. I’ve been told since the mileage is fairly low & I don’t drive it into the ground, shouldn’t need everything done at once. I do plan on trying to get everything done through out the summer.

    I would recommend the Transmission Fluid first.
    That is if, it has 60,000 miles or more on it.

    Next would be Differential Fluids (Rear 1st if I had to choose one)
    Then the Transfer Case
    Then Brake Fluid.

    If it makes you feel better.
    I did Transmission @ 100k miles. (Don’t recommend you wait this long)
    Rear Differential @70k because I had a seal leaking.
    Never have done a full break fluid change. Although I did bleed a bunch out when doing the Rear Seal.

    (ok, ok, I’ll admit. I might have forgot to tighten the brake line to the rear wheel cylinder good.
    Lots of new brake fluid got used)

    nada....maybe a license plate one day & BA bumpers
    OP- I didn't do anything but oil changes (& a set of tires at 60k) until 90k. My taco is a 2013 with over 360k miles currently

    I would suggest only doing the rear diff fluid ATM...do the tranny next when you cross 60k
    along with the transfer case & front/rear diff

    Brake fluid should be swapped out every 2 years, so do that soon & then every two years
    Also swap power steering fluid every 2 years

    Change your engine air filter every 15k miles
    & sparks every 30k & serp belt every 75k

    Dont forget to lube zerks for ujoints on prop shafts if you have em

    You probably got the best year of the gen 2 build cycle, & will likely have many miles/years of worry free driving

    back to bone stock.
    that is about 22,000 miles. i did mine first at 36000 miles. 56KM to you. i would hold off unless you have been doing a lot of deep water crossings. the first time i did it, the fluid dropped out very clean looking. my gut told me i could have waited longer.

    I just had plugs and the full 4wd service done(front and rear diff, and TC) $350 dollars. It was 180 to do the diffs and TC. That's a drain and fill with OEM conventional fluids.
