Anything welding

My daughter has been super bummed about not being able to go to the park lately. Her favorite thing is the Monkey Bars. So I decided to whip up some monkey bars for her today. Had some material sitting around that I wasn’t using for anything else. Built the ladder bars part and made some stops on it so that it couldn’t slide around where I rested it on. Our dog has a fenced area by her dog house so I put it up there which ended up being a great 9 foot span.

 

Couldn’t even wipe down the metal before throwing her up there? Shame Ryan... shame.

 

Oh, come on!

You know kids are just noise covered in dirt.

 

Her little hand her look of focus is on point too. Major dad points, I’m sure she’s loving life.

Haha I set it up there to see how it fit and she was so excited that she didn’t wanna wait lol. I’ll take them down and paint them so they don’t get all gnarly and she has clean monkey bars haha.

In simple terms being lazy !! Poor work connection Oh No Lost weld output Arc to the clamp x 10 to the 6th power

Then that was a cheap Work Clamp as well

 

I work 14 hour days, 6 days a week, how’s that being lazy? that clamp is about 10 years old and saw a lot of welding.

 

You used that clamp for ten years and never took time to put a better one on.

Besides I thought welding was second to your machine work

 

We replaced it with one just like it, I tell my boss I need a new one and he gets what the local hardware store has, his brother in law owns it is why he buys stuff there.

I have better ones on my welders at home but they rarely get used anymore.

I work full time in a machine shop, run a 3 axis milling machine and do all our welding as well. There’s 3 of us there, me and one guy in the shop, he runs our two lathes, and our boss does everything else.

My wife and I own a convenient store and it’s open from 6 am to 8 pm, 6 days a week. It’s just her and I that work it and one of us has to be there. She also works another job as well.

We have 2 kids, 4 & 8 years old and they are always with one of us, don’t go to grandmas for the day or a sleepover.

If the welding clamp at work looks hideous, it’s not from being lazy, it’s from a tired man who don’t care about a welding clamp

 

I don't think I'll ever complain about my work life balance ever again.

I need to vent too.... but I've been too lazy to figure out the wiring on my 2 speed wall mount fume extraction fan....

its on my list which surprisingly is starting to shrink thanks to staying home. I guess that's one good thing to come of all this.

 

I got labeled "essential". I get to got to work and do my own work as well as others who were labeled "non essential".

I'm having withdrawals.

Besides it was the simple answer .Not a one size fits all

I can look at 50 to 100 welding machines (well I used to) in a week

maybe 10 to 20 The Purchasing Agent buys Work clamps by cost just like grinding discs made of recycled cardboard with no idea of application

Others just fail to grasp how important the complete circuit is to the welding process so the work clamp is pretty much ignored.

Then have 4 hours travel time plus an hour on site to change a work clamp

 

It's all good my friend.

The biggest problem with these clamps is the contact surface gets dirty/burnt and needs to be ground occasionally.

 

Welders! Mechanic looking for knowledge. What process would be best for me if I want to weld smaller stuff? For example, cab mount relocation, bumper fabrication etc. Stick? Flux core? Voltage? Thanks in advance

 

A little 120v mig welder is what I use for stuff like that. If you have the 240 capability though never hurts to go that route. A great bang for the buck. if you only have 120v then the titanium mig 140 is what I recommend based off my experience.
