If someone is putting down money for installing forged internals then cometic head gaskets and NEW ARP head bolts is a definite for the 1gr-fe!! Cheap insurance. I think people do around .51 thickness.

Getting a machined pulley to fit should be the easy part.

I've been eying it for awhile. $7k is lots with the current climate and people not working. I saw 'this' creeping up on us and started budgeting more. If these contracts finalize in the next few days. I might have the room to strike a deal.

most head bolts are stretch bolts. let alone use re-used stock head bolts on a performance build. (or as @Flake Boost has hinted at)

I'm going to grab the ARP & Cometic. Thats a given.

Getting the proper sized pulley was the wild card.

@Torspd uses ARP head studs on all his engines. Didn't know if the process was replace or reuse on them. I'm told its reuse on them/

Performance build is sort of a different story, but for regular vehicles I leave them.

I have re-used all my "stretch bolt" shit over and over as nauseum for my entire life as a mechanic and have not once ever ran into issues on any vehicle, ever because of a bolt torque spec issue, or because they somehow loosened up.

Exhaust manifold bolts, hell yeah, replace them, especially when they are hard to get to. Everything else stays.

Like I said, I am an unpopular opinion here on some things. Hahaha.

Well the peak torque numbers are both around 400. But I’ll take the TRD torque curve. Rotrex C39-91/92 and 80mm with Ucon vs a TRD blower 2.3 pulley and all mods on hptune?! :stirthepot:

I'll take the TRD roots blower over a turbo "centrifugal supercharger" all day long. I like my power down low and so does this truck. I'll leave that up high stuff to the race cars, rice rockets and Honda S2000s. :D

I see someone is THOROUGHLY enjoying his new 2.3 pulley. ;)

debating on 1000cc or 1200cc injectors and ditching the 7th injector and the UCON and going with an HP tune. Time will tell. I see the pros and conns to both.

I have ARP 2000 series head studs. They are of a much higher tensile strength than the OEM head bolts. They do not stretch like those do. I do not reuse OEM head bolts.

I just pop the fan/shroud off and get on the tensioner with a breaker bar from the top

I do it from below. One of my breaker bars is just the right length so that I can pull back the tensioner with it and then wedge the handle of the breaker bar onto the the top of the crossmember. That holds it while I do the belt change.

thanks guys! out of laziness does anyone know the torque specs on the internal bolts? i think the intercooler bolts are 11lbs. im going to go 2.3 today.

Damn, some of you guys like to work extra don't you? Lol.

I would stay away from torque spec on the soft aluminum that is on the intercooler. Do you see how many dudes stripped their shit out? Probably following torque spec at that too. Tighten until it is tight and don't go further than that.
