I realized today, 60mph is the top out for now to keep the RPMs under 3k. :notsure:

Got my little Ninja up to 70 MPH for the very first time, and it felt great! Then I brought it home and cleaned it up. I love this thing.

Worst riding I even found myself in was when I was out visiting the GF many years ago: Forecast called for light rain in the AM. It cleared up in the afternoon and truck parking was terrible at her place but there was a spot to tuck the bike at her apartment so I rode out. Netflix and chill... It gets late- time to go and it starts pouring. Let me paint this picture: 30 miles to my destination, HD Sportster on street tires, I'm wearing my most absorbent outfit: demin jacket, dickies and chuck taylors, open face helmet and some sunglasses. (picture the Blues Brothers scene here). Start riding out- rain drops feel like getting sand blasted in the face even at street speed. Good thing I have my safety squints. I tie a bandana over my mouth to protect from the rain- I just taught myself what it feels like to get waterboarded. So I take off the bandana and deal with the sandblasting. Takes me maybe 30-45 min to get home because I'm sliding all over the place, but I make it. Literally dripping wet and my face hurts.

Best miserable ride of my life, but now I know what my limits are. I can sleep over if that shit happens again.

the 883 tops out at 60?

I hate when that happens. I try to avoid it, or I will be camped out under a bridge. If the weather says 30% or less I will ride. If it says 40, I check the radar. Anything more, nope. But then Im mad at myself if it never rains

No. I’m just saying for now, to keep the rpms under 3k thru the break in period 60 is where I can go.

Getting caught in rain storms suck. I know it way to well. I remember years ago I rode to work it was cold. Mid way thru my way home starts snowing. Felt like i was on skis and used my feet as the sticks. Made it home but that sucked. And unfortunately I've been caught doing that several times. I wont do it ever again no bueno on the cbr1000 and snow don't mix. Now I wont ride unless its 50°. Fuck that noise

Installed the pro tapers last night. Made a quick throttle adapter out of pvc but I couldn’t get the throttle cable loose enough for it to fit. Will need to undo the cable at the carb.

Interesting ride today.....wind can do some funny things when you're on a motorcycle. Realized big bumps kinda suck too. And have I mentioned I hate tailgaters? Ride on y'all! :bikewheelie2:

have you considered tuning the suspension?? it is often ignored or overlooked, would almost say the biggest overlooked thing on motorcycles

cross winds suck, on the open highway above 65 riding relaxed and up right, the right cross wind can make you soil your pants for sure
