Hello Tacoma World, 4Runners.com and Tundras.com Members.

We wanted to take this time to show our gratitude and appreciation to our forum family members. We know that right now a lot of people are being affected by the pandemic and are home as a result. We thought we would help lighten spirits and do a fun give-a-way (before you ask it isn’t toilet paper) it’s a SmityBilt X20 10k winch with wireless controller.

    https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p387/SmittyBilt_X20_10K_Winch_-_97510.html

    Details:

Contest will start 12:01am Monday March 30th and the contest will end at midnight Sunday April 5th.

Anyone who is a member of one of these three forums (Tacoma World, 4Runners.com and Tundras.com) can participate providing they have been a member prior to the date of this post which is 3-27-2020. We are trying to limit people becoming members just to enter the contest.

To enter you must tell/show us why you deserve to win a winch. It can be funny, sad, silly, written, photos, etc. Creativity is always appreciated!! Do remember to keep it clean J

You will post your entry to the thread below and please only one entry per person even if you belong to multiple forums. Anyone caught taking advantage will be disqualified. Remember this is to be a fun and light hearted competition so don’t be that person ;)

We here at HeadStrong Off-Road will narrow it down to our top 5 entries and then we will post all 5 semi-finalists across the forums and the community will decide on the WINNER.

The entry with the highest votes as of Friday April 10th at 9am PST will be considered the winner. If there is a tie we will randomly select the winner (coin toss or similar).

We will cover the shipping costs of the winch to anyone within the lower 48 States. If the winner is located outside of this area they will be responsible for the added shipping costs.

EDIT: We had so many worthy entries. Rob and I narrowed it down to our favorite 10 and then draw numbers for the top 5. Please use the poll to cast you vote. Only one entry per member.

Here is the voting thread link:

I want to win a winch so I can give it to @Cav_BluTRD so he quits telling me he needs to buy a winch.

A free winch in hand would be a perfect excuse for me to finally purchase that steel bumper I’ve been wanting!!!

I know what you mean. I had to get rear ended to finally get the excuse I needed to get my rear bumper on order.

I have a dual purpose for a winch.
    1) pull my dumb ass out of a hole when it happens
    2) save these damn kids in my neighborhood that put their cars in ditches. I’ve already had to rescue 2 this year.

On june 1st 2019 my wife and I decided we wanted to get outside. With my schedule, I only get about 90 days a year where I can actually go out and explore. So we loaded up our 2 dogs and headed up towards Naches trail.

We arrive and lo and behold, it is closed until july and snowed in. With the weather being beautiful that day we decided to explore around. We swapped driving on exclusively forrest roads, because we were alone. We found one washed out section and had some fun! Nothing the stock 2017 with 1 skid and sliders couldn't easily handle.

Now, I forgot my wife had done this before in much more capable vehicles. Mainly a highly modified vehicle on 40 inch tires. So she is going out and having fun. I hop out with the dogs to let them use the bathroom. As I turn around I see the vehicle going towards a pretty intense washout for a stock truck. Tge front goes in as I'm running at the vehicle, only to see the rear slide in.

Now, I'm hung up on the hitch. Can't reverse at all. The only option is to go forward, and deeper into a mud pit. So I cut some downed tree limbs, brush, and have some cheap recovery boards I got real cheap. Ram all that under the tires in Hope's of getting out. So I get off my hitch and move about 2 feet before I rest, wheels spinning, high centered the ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE VEHICLE.

So it is about 4 pm now. "It's june in washington we will be fine!" For the next 3 1/2 hours I am digging, cutting, and jamming trying to get the vehicle unstuck. Now the dogs were fine, at first. After 2 hours of this they start getting antsy. 2 hunting dogs are screaming at me while my wife has a cup trying to scoop mud out of a massive ditch.

I am covered up to my waist in mud, still high centered. 7 pm rolls around and I am starting to get nervous. We passed a group of people 5 or 6 Miles down the forrest service road shooting on our way up. I was just about to leave my rig, high centered, on the side of a mountain and hoof it to see if I can get a tug.

As we were packing up what became a yard sale of stuff trying to get unstuck, a Chevy Colorado pulls up and asks if we need a hand. That man and his wife saved my wife, myself, and 2 desperate dogs.

With 2 small tugs and alot of skinny pedal we were free! In the process losing some recovery gear (just a hitch reciever with a shackle) because we were so happy to get out we made sure we had more important stuff.

Long story short if you're gonna go alone, bring equipment to get your ass back to safety.20190601_150451.jpg

Seems like this would be the perfect winch to mount up on my dads '12 Taco, since I already have a Smitty 9.5k winch on the front of mine.

I could use the winch for the bumper I'm in the process of building with the help of @Bigdaddy4760. Its currently taking up room in his shop since I'm 2 hrs away and cant make the drive out to work on it due to current Stay at Home Regulations that have been put in place.

I’ve mall crawled all over CA and have posed on every curb I can find. I’m tired of showing off my magnetic fairlead... but seriously, I want to nominate my dear friend for this giveaway. You and your company have always been a pleasure to do business with. Thank you for being you (and becoming a Baja Design vendor) ;)

Thanks! Its a Coastal Offroad DIY bumper with some changes. Hoping they lift the stay at home restriction next week so we can get back on it. I'm currently driving around with the front bumper cut up from starting the assembly on the truck. We still have to do all the outside welding, grinding and finishing along with weld the full hoops on. While its a bummer its taking longer than expected I'm just grateful I can work from home and still have my job!

That is definitely something to be thankful for. We are lucky since we are a mom and pop shop. We are together here and at home so the social distancing doesn't really apply to us. We had to limit walk-in traffic though which is sort of a bummer. The restrictions have been a big inconvenience but I totally understand the purpose. I am sure most of us are ready for life to get back on track. I know my daughters are. My poor Junior is frantic about her SAT's and AP exams. Not to mention all the fun stuff like prom and the end of the year activities. Stupid virus. :(

It's gonna take a big stout winch to drag my carcass back to work after all this social distancing.
