Any PC Builders Out There?

Theres been quite a few decent deals lately. Especially on the 3600(x), 3700(x), and 3900x.

Looks like things have pushed the 4000 series back a bit more towards end of the year/beginning of 2021

 

Just upgraded my 7 year old build about a week ago. I had originally gone with just a new GPU but noticed my CPU was bottlenecking my GPU's performance so I just said screw it I'm building new! I went with the following, and boy it's sweet!

-Asus ROG Strix Z390-H Mobo
-Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super GPU
-Intel i7 9700K CPU
-Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD 1TB
-G.Skill Trident Z Neo RAM (16GB) (Probably will be upgrading to 32GB)
-4 Corsair LL120 RGB Fans w/ Lightning Node Pro Controller
-Retained my Corsair 750HX 80+ Platinum PSU
-Retained my 27" Asus Gsync 144hrz 1080p Monitor (Running Nvidia DSR for upscaling)
-Retained my Zalman Heatsink/Cooler

Edit: I also retained my Antec 900 Full ATX case, it gets excellent air flow so just stuck with it.

Edit: Also have Corsair RGB light strips on the way.

 

2080 Super though

Just bugging you. I've never understood the 2080 Super. It's the least Super version because they wanted to protect the 2080Ti.

Lol yeah I know, I don't either. My last couple builds I've had the Gigabyte versions, I've had excellent experiences with them. My last one was just called GTX Windforce 780 OC, I guess the Super takes over the "OC" from the name. By the way, I love your avatar. You watching the new Picard series?

 

anyone having issues with the new nvidia driver making games crash?

 

I’ve been fine on latest driver, but a friend with 2080 TI has had an issue. What gpu are you running ?

 

2070, after the update im getting directx errors, not sure If that's os related or something to do with the nvidia drivers cause it just started happening after the update.

 

Super is the new Ti. nVidia screwed themselves by releasing the Ti models in the 20 series too early so they came up with Super as a replacement to jam in between normal editions and Ti versions.

I wish I had the time. I've been too busy with the kids as of late sadly.

 

I've been fine on my 2080Ti. Which games?

Apex has occasionally given me trouble since its launch but that's about it.

 

Also whoever says AMD drivers are shit, I've had way more problems with 20 series drivers than my friends who have 4xx, 5xx, and 5xxx cards have had. AMD might overheat or have botched fan controls but at least it doesn't crash lol

 

mostly modern warfare, happened a few times in f1 2019 and diablo. sometimes it crashes so often I cant even finish a match in mw. other times its totally fine. ive tried reinstalling, custom install. ran sfcscan too.

Ohh I see. Yeah that is true, seemed early for a TI release. Yeah I feel yah with the kids. I have a 2 and 4 year old. I only get to play a few hours when they go to bed every now and then.

 

Are you running an overclock? You might have to step it back. Try running Unigine Heaven and see if it crashes.

You could always role back a driver version or try running the beta of the next version.

I just noticed your ram comment. Unless you find yourself pushing 80% memory usage don't waste your money on 32 GB. A computer won't perform any better with 32 GB of ram unless it's regularly running out of free memory.

 

Any VR nuts in here? Or just pancake gamers?

fantastic except for all the bugs, I couldn't reload my one weapon and had to keep restarting the game lol
