    I need roaches...

How long did it take you to get them?

Wondering if I should chance it and get them mailed to my apartment or my house

I ordered them yesterday. Looks like might be from a shipper from here in SoCal. If you order Monday or Tuesday it ships Wednesday. Today or Friday will be Monday ship, Jamies tarantulas.

Ah shit that's crazy convenient for you.

It took about 3 days to ship, and another 3 days to get here for me.

I could've driven and gotten back the same day; ask me how I know :anonymous:

Definitely need to let the colony grow before using them for feeders.

There are a lot of good size feeders but they’re hiding! But yes, establishing it would be a good idea!

So every 2-3 days, Penelope stuffs dirt into her water dish. I always remove it, rinse it, and pour fresh water.

She hangs out for a bit afterward on the walls or something before she goes in her hide.

Had a chance to measure her against the glass

She certainly didn't want to move. I'm glad I wore a mask, eye protection, long sleeves, and gloves because she kicked some of those nasty hairs at me. She calmed down a bit after that and I was able to tilt her old enclosure, arranging the lid so it was still 80% sealed, so she walked into the new one.

Had to join the forum to view other threads, etc. but I'm taking this idea and applying it to my arboreal setup for my A. Versicolor -

    https://youtu.be/3pTF6iKi5yA?t=34s

Basically use plexiglass to replace the mesh, glue it on the lid frame, burn some holes through it and you've an enclosure that isn't as vented so that it holds moisture better.

I'll have to figure out a ventilation strategy in that case...drilling through the glass, but that'll be a bit later.

I'll be doing something similar to my new Goliath Bird-Eater enclosure to help keep moisture in. Any updates on your Versicolor's condition?

When I got up this morning, it was still hunched in the same manner but in a different location.

The green carpet/wall was still slightly damp and I topped off what little water evaporated from the small water dish.

I've left it alone hoping it would maybe crawl around (plenty of hiding spots available).

    Think it'll require ICU?

I'm at work (I still work, 8 to 5) so I won't be able to buy the plexiglass until I get out.

Maybe it's just in premolt and extra stressed from being rehoused. Hopefully.

I've been hoping for the best; what threw me for a loop was bringing it home and seeing that it couldn't climb glass/plastic.

I was all set up for an arboreal (I have 2 extra enclosures meant for an arboreal species) as I wanted to be prepared and all.

After reading about the possibilities, they pointed towards a premolt. Where the T originated from was another question that had been brought up and at that point I thought to myself "ahh...shit...that could be part of the issue"

I'm all for doing my best no matter what. Just sucks if this T was given all the wrong cards from the get go...
