2010 TRD Sport Double cab with Bronze Bead lock wheels tired of the Chrome lock rings. Would like to change the color probably powder coat them. What color would you recommend Satin black, Bronze, leave it silver. When I bought the truck the wheel we’re dipped black with chrome rings when dip start peeling took it all off. I have dipped the rings black but it started to peal so took it all off didn’t look bad with black rings. At 77 I get lazy and run through car was which kill the dip.

That is a very nice rig. Be proud & it is clean style. No ticky /tacky crap on it.

On several occasions now, my hood has been prematurely popping open while on the freeway. Did a search and found only one discussion about this happening to someone else but no real solution. Scares the s#!+ out of me when it happens. Thank God for the secondary latch to keep it from flying over my roof. Anyone else experience this before? Any suggestions of what to look for and possible fix? I will start with the usual cable tension and then the rubber pad height but at first glance, nothing seems unusual. Thanks for any assistance.

Check the hood release cable might be something wrong where it is not releasing the latch when done using the opener. The cable or latch on the radiator support is jamming/sticking.

This doesn’t fix the root cause, but I added hood pins to mine. Cheap and easy and effective. My hood fluttered around a lot on the highway and it made me uncomfortable. Rock solid now. You can see them here, just push it in to release.

Thank you. I love how they hug the bottom of the cab so closely.

You could wet sand the rings with 600 grit to make them matt finished, or spray them with matt clear.:notsure:

I’ve never commented on anyone else’s truck in here before, but that’s gotta be at least in the top five best looking 2nd gens. Well done.

Care to share more on them? My hood flutters a lot as well and I knew it wasn’t normal.

STETION Quick Latch Hood Pins... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L428V3W?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

There’s not much to it. The pin part mounts on the radiator support. They’re beefy, about 1/2” diameter. The cut some holes in your hood and you’re ready to party. I don’t have any photos of exactly where I mounted the pins.

Finished up installing shock/springs from a new 3rd gen. The ride is much smoother now and can’t argue with the small lift it gives up front.

A couple of my shackles were nice and crusty thanks to living in a leaky plano on my roof for awhile. Decided to give them some love since I’m bored.

Good to see I'm not alone in using the trash/recycle totes as painting assistants. I put mine a few feet apart an run multiple lines of paracord and then hang things.
