People like that in my employment situation are never promoted, or put in charge of people, as they are regarded as stupid. If you cant explain your reasons, from a scientific standpoint, other than "im the boss" well the team wont ever inquire for your input and will go around you.

Ive seen far more people in managerial positions get fired/ asked to leave than actual technical people
