My dad was a tin can sailor as well as a bunch of his buddies that I grew up around. Dad was a machinist mate and I learned tons from him in my early years.
Always though tin canners were a bit off. And machinist mates even more so. I mean who hangs out in the engine room in the belly of the beast and never intermingled with other people? Only the very odd ones I say.

My dad was a boiler tech on an oiler in Korea. Never finished high school. Became a pipe fitter, of course. A damn good one. If you live in Northern California, chances are you have been to, or drove by one of his jobs. He was one of the best, and ran jobs, and planned them later. He put together the plumbing and heating in at the hospital on Cottage, in Sacramento. He put in the water treatment plant in West Sac, near the river off Reed Ave. Did the upgrade there, years later. Did the upgrade for the water treatment plant in SF, next to the zoo. Did the water treatment plant in Santa Cruz. Way back when , he put in the labs at UC Davis. Just to name a few. The guy was amazing for someone who got a GED in the Navy. He should have been a mechanical engineer.

    I don't think that's a collection. It's just the beer he's drank since the shelter-in-place order.

That was Wednesday's project for me. House is clean, honey do list is done. It's gonna be a long couple more weeks of this shit.

I did finally break down and buy a welder. That'll be here Monday. Then I can weld up a few little things on my rig. That should kill a bit of time. I hope. lol

I’ve been cleaning nightly lately. Garage is clean as well and weeds and backyard is picked up. Got nothing to do.

Feel so bad for you guys that don’t have kids. Must be rough...

I will admit the kids keep us busy all day which I guess is a plus but also between them, working from home and the regimented cleaning routine after bedtime I only get free time after 10 PM. Too bad I’m exhausted at that point and head right to sleep. Wouldn’t be as bad if we didn’t have a super active 1.5 year old who gets into everything and has no chill. But I am loving all this time home and hanging with the kids (even if the two younger ones only want their mom and scream at me when I try to help them :bananadead:).

My kid is 5 and she can entertain herself for short bits of time. During the week I’m on dad/teacher duty while mom works from home. So I get some time on the weekend to get bored and tinker.
