Power sliding window in an 05

I need to replace the back window on my 05.

While searching for a replacement I saw a couple of vendors advertising their non-slider windows fit 05 thru 20.

Does anyone know if you can put the power slider window from a 2016 into a 2005?

I'm asking because for $100 more I can get the power slider (the vendor says will only fit the 16 thru 19.

I doubt they made a new cab just to add the power option.

i recently saw an 06 with a 17' rear power slider installed. yes, it can be done.

 

Does it actually include the motor, etc to function or is it just a sliding window spec’ed to fit the Tacoma’s equipped with the slider motor and cables?

my guess is the latter

He(Brad) has youtube videos on the center glass install as well. You have to remove/replace the catch to get it in the channels.

 

I have already paid for the new window, so I greatly appreciate the reassurance.

The window in the picture is a manual slider, I wasn't sure if the vendor (Brad) made an error in his description or not, which is why I started this thread.

I did further research and found the fixed window has the same on from 04-18, so I went ahead and bought the new one.
The window I'm getting includes the complete window, cable, gear and motor. MSRP +/- $950.

I don't know the whole story on the window I'm getting, but I suspect it's dealer stock that was damaged in one of the floods ( no warranty).

I bought my 2017 power slider on ebay, no motor or switch/harness etc. Just cable/spool and window for $265 shipped to my door, pulled from a salvage truck. Required zero, zilch, nada, no modifications, it goes right in and fits like it should in my 2006 DCSB. Only pita is getting the old frame out. I've started running the wiring, and looking for a deal on the 2017+ Tacoma or the tundra crewmax power slider window switch.

Im waiting for warmer weather to complete as the sealant requires temps above 50°f to cure properly.

 

The vendors only know what the computer tells them, and the computer only knows what Toyota releases fitment for. Toyota knows their parts will fit prior years, but they want to sell you a new vehicle with new features, not sell you parts for your old vehicle they aren't making money off you on.

 

See my post above. I've been wrong before, but 05 - current uses the same rear window doesn't matter cab style. Essentially you could put the power rear slider from a 2017+ into even the second gen single cab.

 

You got a better deal than I did. I paid $300 and have to make a 600 mile trip to save on the shipping cost.
