HELP!!

What in the holy hell!! It’s always something isn’t it?!?! Can someone please tell me how and why this would’ve happened? Im about to pull the rest of my hair out over this suspension...there’s no reason this o-ring should be hanging out.

 

Calm down, take a breath.

That o-ring is only there to keep the "c-clips" together during assembly. Once the spring retainer is in place it serves very little to no purpose. That o-ring is also very prone to dry rotting after time and a lot of guys remove it during servicing.

It likely got pinched during assembly. Did you just purchase those or get them valved?

 

I purchased them and they have about 6,000 miles on them with little off-road time due to being away at a military school. So that o-ring doesn’t serve a huge purpose that would affect anything internal with the valving or future performance? Nothing premature I should worry about or is there a way I can get that o-ring replaced without actually having to rip out the entire coil-over?

 

No, that o-ring has nothing to do with the internals of the shock and/or its function. It’s just a nice feature for the assembly process as far as my knowledge goes.

The spring retaining clips appear to be in the proper position in the picture so I personally wouldn’t the worry about it. You’d have to remove the shocks and remove the springs to replace it.

 

If it makes you feel any better, mine did the same thing.

 

Cmbondo, did you experience any underlying or issues in the future after discovering it? Just want a little reassurance that it’s something I don’t have to address.

No issues. As someone said above, to the best of my knowledge it is just there to hold the retaining clips in place during assembly. It has nothing to do with the internals. Mine has been like that for quite a while.

I'll be curious to hear how many threads you wind up having show once you get the ride height you're looking for. I just set my driver side to 26.1/2 threads to start. Was hoping for 2-2.5" lift. I'll install in a week or two. Waiting on good weekend weather.

 

Finally finished my Fox lift kit and am super happy with the outcome. I did Fox 2.5 remote resi with dsc adjuster up front with the Fox 2.0 remote resi with adjuster in the rear. After some fine tuning and adjusting came out to 3 in lift I was looking for. Added the spc uca and some FN FX Pro wheels with some BFG Bro 2's 285-70-R17 and could not be happier. Only thing I ran into was having to do a skid plate bracket drop kit bc my sway bar was very close to the brackets for the skid and would hit over bumps. Me and a buddy made up some 1/2in spacers and I powder coated them to keep it clean. Came out looking beautiful in my opinion. Love this setup and could not have done it without the help of you awesome people of Tacoma world

Looks great! I have the exact same setup but put mine at 2.5” lift. I’m getting SPCs put on next week, changing from Icon UCAs. What setting did you go with on the SPCs?

 

I like what you did @outxider.Besides the fact that reading through this site makes my wallet sad it sure does make me and my truck happy . Life is for living and enjoying...even during the rona outbreak lol. These Fox shocks ain't no joke the ride is unreal. This forum really makes my old lady jealous but that's what 4wd is for...she can't get me out there .

I actually seen a video earlier today of a guy complaining about them but it was on a Chevy with aftermarket full bumper and he was bitching saying bc of the price he shouldn't have to research . Us tacoma owners know what's up and thats why our shit rides smooth as silk. Research is everything and then comes the bomb on the wallet

 

hard to tell by your pics, but you may need to change the position of your rear reservoir so it doesn’t contact the axle at full compression.

 

Thanks for looking out Matt. I have done plenty of measuring to make sure it is all good. With the 3 leaf aal and the resi where it is the axle is no worry,the bump stop hits and still leaves almost a full inch of compression on the shock seeing as its the extended travel shock .Also I can't rotate it do to having a roost guard to protect the shock shaft. I did put both roost guards on just because I got the set and I like to keep things clean and even

 

how did you get the driver side roost guard on...? I only put mine on the passenger side due to the axle tube..?
