The water resistance of the factory Toyota fob has been beyond exceptional in my experience. Fear of losing that level of protection when I spend every spare moment in or on the water is the only thing keeping me from jumping on the MESO keyless fob.
If the MESO fob fails due to water intrusion, I need a door key. It's a catch 22..

I wish there was a way just to use my viper remote. I installed the pop and lock for the tailgate, but I need the key to get in and out of my glove box since I lock it and have important stuff in there. I like the meso key fob, but for me. I needed the key. Plus, on the vids it looks thicker than the oem key fob.

The point of attachment on the stock and AJT fobs is the detachable key. (stock fob has a body key ring mount)

I had a fun 30 minutes of searching for my stock fob on the beach at sundown after playing with my dog, running and throwing a ball. I wear my keys attached to my belt loop with a carabiner and the little key had detached from the fob body somehow. Went to leave and found nothing but the little key hanging from my carabiner.
Luckily I found it washing up in the waves.
Shortly after I got a MESO fob. Much more secure.
Indeed, the waterproofing of the stock fob is excellent! But for those of you with the key ring on the mini key, do yourself a favor and move it to the body (stock fob). If you have an AJT, well, be careful!

Dropped my OEM fob in the pool accidentally and it worked after I replaced the battery and it let it air dry in sun for a few hours.

Thanks man. It’s funny how many people compliment my key fob lol
I’ll put it down on a counter and I always get people asking about it
