The ESI Tailgate seal already has adhesive. Just wipe down the portion of the grille that it will be adhering to with 90% alcohol and let it dry, then stick it to it. The bug shield probably does a little bit to hide the gap, but the gap will still be there. It's more than just for looks, it's also functional to seal that up as it keeps the majority of contaminants from reaching the top of the engine through that gap. Remember while an engine will run with rain water and dust and whatnot sticking to it, it doesn't run as efficiently as if it is clean. If you're not cleaning it, or at least wiping stuff off of it, then at least seal up the gap to help keep it cleaner, longer. :)

Gotcha, I know this still gap needs to be sealed off. I guess the better question was whether TSI Tailgate deal was what I needed considering I have a bug shield. Seems like it might be too thick, but not sure.

The gap still exists, the bug shield just hides it a little more. The ESI Tailgate seal would still be fine. Plus at the mount points for your bug shield it will just flex over the mount. :)

The tailgate seal adheres to the inside of the grille, it'll have to be notched/cut with scissors where the grille mounts to truck. I got really caught up in making the tail gate seal super straight and like 1/8" above the top of grille the entire way. Which was hard where the supports are. Id say 1/4" - 3/8" above the the grille would be perfect. Maybe I lucked out but I've barely got a gap

I bet yours is more perfect than mine, if you really took your time. I just kind of winged it (as you can tell from the wave in it in two parts)

I agree but a clean truck would last all off a couple blocks. Snow is melting like crazy and it's a sloppy mess here.

Well boys.. I’m not completely disappointed. I do still have to order the weather strip as it is much needed. Other than that, I think it’s going to work. Undecided on paint patch or not.. thoughts? Letter color thoughts?

Thanks, I think I’m leaning the same way. It matches the wheels pretty good which makes it not stick out so much.

Do you have an updated link to this? All of the old ones are not working. Did yours come with the letters or did you purchase separately?

The one I bought was from eBay and said “Last In Stock”. Obviously that probably wasn’t true as it seems most things say that. I can’t tell what it says now because it keeps sending me to a “delivered” page.. I did manage to get a link though. Came with letters and screws to install them. Also came with mounting bracket things on top. Very easy and self explanatory, has everything you need other than the weather strip is a piece of junk and I’m going to try the tailgate strip everyone is having success with. Here’s the link https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/193241366146 Good luck!

Hey guys! I pulled the trigger and ordered the grille, lights, and weatherstrips on Wednesday.

I have a question..how do I wire so that when I turn on my side markers the Raptor lights will be on too? I just received my raptor lights and my grill should be here tomorrow per FedEx shipping tracking. I am not an electrical guy at all but love the looks of the grille with raptor lights. I ordered off of Toyota Accessories Guy (not sure why their website link is blocked on here) and their recommended weatherstrip takes long to ship so I ended up ordering these and got them today as well https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MJM2F32/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just found this thread by chance a couple nights ago. I have a 2005 Tacoma and do not have DTRL or anything. I've tried doing a Google search but a lot of videos are showing how to wire them with DTRL.

    Thanks!

    EDIT:

I think I may have found the answer to my question. So much more easier to browse on a computer compared to a smartphone. Hope my grille comes in early!

I know you said you might have found the answer already, but just wanted to share what I did with my headlights.. anything I wanted on as a “DTRL” I wired to the parking lights. This way I just flip the switch forward once to parking lights in my truck. Keep in mind though this will make your taillights and tag light be on as well. Which I’m fine with, I like the look of running these during the day since they are LED and bright enough

That's exactly what I want to do. How did you wire it to your parking lights? I drive with my parking lights on quite a bit.

    Thanks!

Just used those quick connector things that splice into the lines and clamp closed lol should be pretty simple. when you get your lights and wires in there it will make more sense. As long as you know how to splice or have some of those quick connectors shouldn’t be a problem. Or look up a video on YouTube about how to splice. Very easy

Thanks! I'm not electrical savvy so unless everything is pre-wired and setup for plug and play I tend to need help or I steer away from it. My brother in law is working from home so he said I can head over if I need help.
