a better crimper for non-insulated terminals?

    I have an OLS relay/fuse box and I started to install the wires but the crimper I have isn't strong enough. It just folds the tabs over instead of a proper crimp. The metal used for the terminals of the OLS is thicker and you can't get a good crimp.

    This is the crimper I have:

    Klein is really good. I’ve used a lot of there tools while doing electrical and it’s precise finish.

    I bought this crimping tool just about two weeks ago. The crimper I already had was not going to work for the tiny terminals I needed to crimp.
    So far this one has worked well. Seems to be pretty well made, and certainly comes with a lot of useful extras.

    This. Using the right crimper for the terminal makes a huge difference.

    That's very similar to the crimper I have now. I don't think it's the style of crimper but the thickness of the material the terminal is made of.

    That could be. They tend to be really sensitive to small differences. Something that ratchets might help for sure.

    You need one with off sets on the dies. Then it crimps the terminal over wire and terminal over insulated wire. The ratchet style is the best and doesn't over/under crimp. Plus removable dies make it easy to change over to other crimp styles.

    The middle die for the klein tool you linked should work for those connectors. The crimper you have is for metri-pack and weather-pack terminals which use cable seals.

    My Klein VDV200-010 crimp tool arrived today. I had to change the "tension knob" to the lightest setting because where it was I couldn't get the tool open. Yes, I know about the small lever.
    I crimped one terminal for a fuse and the crimp came out good but it's crimping the terminal too much. I'd have to crimp and count the clicks so I don't over do it.

    I'd like to practice but the fuse block did not come with extra terminals :(
    Like I said before, it's like the metal the terminal is made from is too thick.

    Maybe I could try crimping a terminal in the next slot. 18ga. in the 16-14 slot?

    Yes, but after you crimp them. They won't fit in the housing otherwise.

    When i use to work at a shop installing TVs and alarms in cars i used these, crimps really well and very durable... sometimes i used them to crimp 4ga wire terminals for grounding amp wires
