Looks fun but I’ve never been. Currently planning a mule deer hunt in Arizona with a buddy in November. Should be a good time, don’t have high hopes we will be successful though.

It’s the funnest type of hunting I’ve ever done. Never done elk hunting so I’ll see if that beats it. You should give it a shot sometime.

Edit; I forgot you have to purchase (or at least have in cart) your fishing/small game license first.

Anyone having issues with the CPW site? I've tried calling but their line is just a busy signal. when I try and submit my preferences I get an error:

    Hi :hattip:

I hunt, a lot, TW hunt club? I’m in...

Already put in for this year, plus I’ll be trying for my usual OTC rags as well.

Do all three of you have your hunters ed? That’s where we need to begin

I put in for Elk and deer on the draw, also put in for my points moose, mtn goat, sheep. And I’ll pick up a concurrent bear tag once OTC goes on sale. Antelope I’ll also grab an OTC for my cousins dance down south east Colorado where I can pull up the truck and pop one

    Thanks for the tag, Marty!

I’m starting from ground zero, basically, so hunters ed is the first thing to check off the list.

That sounds like an awesome way to maintain social distancing! Thanks for the offer, Marty!

One of the cool things about starting hunting at this point in my life is that I’m pretty much a blank slate. The last time I shot a big gun was years ago with my dad’s .338 Win Mag. My BIL does archery primarily and I’m hoping that he can help me get some basics down doing that so I can start getting reps on my own. But I’m planning on hunting rifle as well, for sure.

I figure whatever gets me out in the sticks, in my truck, and then out on foot all for the chance to harvest an animal that could feed my family for months... that sounds pretty damn awesome to me! Even getting skunked is still a possibility to have a good time in the boonies :D

I can bring the 300 Win Mag, 7mm, 30-06, 338 Lapua, 50, whatever  Ok maybe not the 50, because those rounds are currently expensive as all hell

Hell yes! First rule of TW Hunt Club is to.... wait wrong club haha

I dont have an official hunter's ed. Is this a required class to apply for a license? I hear late-season cow tags are the easiest to obtain.

Yes in order to get and hunting license you will first need to complete a sanctioned hunters Ed class

Depending on the type of hunting you want to do (truck based, horse based, backcountry based, etc.) you will want to get comfortable with putting in miles with weight on. I’m not nearly as experienced as these other guys, but the public land hunts I do are like 70% ultralight backcountry backpacking and 30% hunting. Then if you get something, a long ass way over shitty terrain with a lot of weight on your back. If you want to do more of a daily in/out truck based camp that would obviously change things. So give your hunting style done thought.

Damn, i'd love to join the hunt club but I'm a green horn bow hunter. Did the hunters ed last year, super easy but a lot of good info! Maybe i'll invest in a rifle....:anonymous:
