1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Been running a NAPA rack for last 4 years.

Killed the OEM pump in September so I put a NAPA one in.


I have no power steering, I'm assuming it's the pump again

 

Fluid doesn't look that bad (still red with a faint burn smell), have a little pump whine.

 

Yeah when I quoted Mike yesterday, I was basically trying to say "that's where I don't camp" lol

Even with packing...there may be trails but there sure as hell aren't any developed areas or sites

 

is the screen clogged?

 

Mine whines too when it gets warm, when I crank the wheel at a slow speed or at a stop. Changed fluid out a couple months ago and didn't help, think I need to disassemble the screen and clean it out.

 

i gave up on reman pumps and bought a new toyota one...

 

I'll check but it shouldn't be. When I replaced the pump in September I cleaned it and I put in a Magnefine inline filter

I am wondering if the filter and cooler on the low pressure side are making the pump work too hard too

 

ohh. those damn filters like to cause issues.

 

This pump has always whined when getting close to full lock , it probably wasn't long for this world anyways

 

I'm sure the fact that it is having to turn those huge dirty 5's probably isn't helping lol

 

Buuuut the fluid is nice and clean! No metal flakes any more

 

where do those flakes go? into the filter... which in turn hinders fluid flow... basically it becomes clogged over time, pump over works and boom. dead pump

 

Yeah, probably what happened. I'm sure I'll find lots of pretty glitter in there though! Party time

I like this software and a little $30 windows Tablet makes it pretty easy to mess with

OBD Auto Dr. One of the only cheaper software packages I've seen with bi-di and mode $06 with populated names for manufacturer specific shit

Yeah, it's too hard to find an unmolested manual and since the CD009 manual is such an easy swap nowadays I figured auto ain't bad for a little while
