Well my bearing in my fan cooling bracket finally went 300,274 miles. I really don’t want to goto dealer for part or repair. Has anyone ever changed this bracket? Just wondering how long it will take? I think from what I’ve read Aisin is the closest to OEM, but what about the one from Gates? Anyone’s thoughts on both parts?

Aisin is oem & your "fan bracket" is actually your water pump.

@Jazzalou1 , Don't do like I did. cover your radiator with a big piece of cardboard. I dinged up my fins big time when I removed the fan. Stupid me. It's not leaking, and hasn't affected my cooling that I can tell. Temp still doesn't go above 198. But I know one day my Plastic Tacoma radiator will fail, and I'll just replace it with a OEM one. I found a radiator made from aluminum. Here's the link. Has anyone ever heard of this brand or used it.

Aisin makes the factory part, though for some reason Toyota doesn't sell the bracket separately from the pulley and clutch, so going aftermarket is the only way to get it for a reasonable price.

As was said, the fan bracket is just a fan bracket. The fan is driven by the alternator and power steering belts.

The water pump is driven by the timing belt and is mostly not visible without disassembly (all you can really see is the part of the housing the thermostat housing bolts onto.

I did it last summer, got the Aisin off Amazon. It’s pretty easy, just take your time. Have you ever done the timing belt? It’s like the first 25% of that job!

While you are at it...think about replacing the bearings in the AC belt tensioner. Fastenall carries them they are a few bucks each, there is a how-to on here.

Ya it’s just the fan bracket , water pump and timing belt done last April, I replaced AC pulley on bottom as well, never thought about fan pulley should have done it then too. Wish me luck off tomorrow so I’ll be taking it apart, I’ll let you know how I make out. Ya got part from rock auto it was $130 Aisin as everyone recommended. Thanks again everyone

Good luck. I did mine then a year later the fan clutch went out. Put a new fan and clutch on (also Aisin). Wish I had done it at the same time as the bracket but who knew the clutch would go out?

    The 3.4L doesn't use a serpentine belt. It runs 3 4-rib v-ribbed belts in a conventional non-serpentine layout.

The fan clutch pulley is driven by both the power steering and alternator belts and also acts as quasi-idler for each of them.
