Who are we kidding this site is the equivalent of the Jeep wave. Stop pointing down and belittling from the tower of TW all the while believing you’re special cause “I duhwivvve a Tacoma”. In reality the Tacoma wave would just be the bird as surely something would be wrong with the other persons truck...it’s a 1st gen, it’s a 2nd gen, it’s a 3rd gen, to much lift, not enough lift, no lift, ugly wheels, you financed, you paid cash lalalalalala here’s your wave :luvya: it’s official now go out and spread the word spread

As a former jeep and wrx owner...

    No.

Real logic is that both the first gen 2.5RS imprezas then bugeye WRXs were niche cars that you didn't see often and were universally driven by people who loved the oddball nature of the cars, so a wave was like "what's up fellow weird-taste-in-vehicles guy?!" Up through the TJ, while they were way more common, they were decidedly crude so you had to love them for what they were and the sentiment translates as above. The JK's accessibility changed that for jeep just as the explosion of popularity did for subarus.

I got tired of it in jeeps. Now the waves and looks I get in my current subaru, the 2000 2.5RS sedan are more of a "holy shit they still exist outside of video games!" kinda thing and that's fun. I'll wave in response to those, if I even notice.

Look how many Tacomas are out there... they aren't uncommon, special or otherwise unique. No one's looking at your truck dude, just drive, you made us miss the red light

The waves are part of a conspiracy driven by the marketing/publicity divisions of said brands. People think that they are part of some special club - it gives them a sense of security and purpose. And of course they are willing to pay a premium for that. When was the last time you saw a great deal on a new Jeep? That's right - never.

The discounts on gladiators got so steep that I momentarily questioned my decision. Then I remembered the shorter wheelbase, shorter overall length and oh yeah, idgaf about putting miles on my Toyota :D

For real though, new discounts are crazy, that and marketing are why they are everywhere (and damn they are fun, I won't deny that) but the used market is stupid high because that's the real value after the lost-ass tax of buying new. Dude, I made a net profit on my 99 tj after building the hell out of it! That's not supposed to happen! I then lost the profit on a Silverado, wised up and ordered my perfect Tacoma.

The second worst thing about owning a Jeep is the "Wave",
The worst thing about owning a Jeep is it still has that 1940s Solid axle front suspension.

I had a guy wave at me in the Tacoma the other day. I didn’t know what to do so I pretended I didn’t see him and looked the other way.

That's all cool and everything but she wants someone to hit that more than she's leading on.

It was actually fairly common in the 80's in my area and I still do it occasionally.
