I figured he was a few years older!!

I was good for breaking the wooden handles on forks lifting far more then they were made for

It's raining on my table top so I've got to get the base done!

Finished the prep this morning. Lots of prep.

Here's my rather dubious fixture to weld on the feet:

I think my welds are getting a little nicer. No stack of dimes, but... Any advice GREATLY appreciated!

    Finished product:

Agreed, those are fantastic welds. Don't get caught up on that dime look.

Those welds are stellar! Dime stacking is just a waste of time.

    Time IS money!

Weird contraption for a customer. Still need some improving on those outside corner welds 02FCFECC-FE14-4396-97C9-0E7111B2FE3C.jpgD2ED153B-5838-4007-95CF-82CC3E73B84D.jpg

I never weld the outside. I weld the inside and grind the outside down to the inside weld. Of course, if you don't have room to run the flap disc on the outside, you have to weld it.

Very true. I almost always grind the outside corners as well and insides on these were welded as well

Just fun to play with settings on the machine and adjust down for the corners that can’t take a ton of heat

I finished welding the frame together and went ahead and installed the suspension and tires to make moving it around my tiny shop easier.

I'm going to start building the box next. It will be 10' long and about 4 and half feet wide around 4' tall. I plan to skin it with aluminum to keep weight down. What do y'all suggest for the rectangle square tube for the enclosed box? Needs to support a big roof top tent and a spare tire up top.

Anyone hurt by this recession going on? I’m having big regrets taking this job at this shipyard but doesn’t seem like a good time to find a new job :pout:

Same here. With only two of us in the shop and one welding we don’t have the greasy wheel though.

Out of boredom, practiced uphill welding on some 1/4”, and then practiced with the oxy torch. Getting better.
