I saw on the news yesterday that Costco in Marana has gas at $1.65. I remember as a kid seeing gas under $1.00.

    @Nitori

You were correct and I'm glad it worked out for you. Next time, you don't want the meter for continuity. You want voltage V~. But otherwise, you were spot on.

I apologize if this isn’t the place to post this (I’ve only just read posts on here and not ever actually posted)

    1. Has anyone here had any luck actually selling stock 3rd Gen OR wheels?

    2. I have some suspension questions but I don’t wanna go to a shop and not get the right answers because they wanna get the most out of me or because I’m not knowledgeable about suspension. I want to lift my ‘18, but only about 2-3”. I don’t do any crazy off-roading. Usually out to Sycamore or Butcher. However I do some road tripping with my RTT (across the country road tripping) and off roading in places like Colorado or Montana. I carry a bed full of stuff when I do. (I live out of my truck for a few months with my wife and daughter) Not exactly Overlanding as we do stay at some developed campsites from time to time. I noticed last summer that my truck bottomed out a few times when we were on some back roads in MT. What do you guys suggest as far as lifts/suspension? I’ve looked at a leveling kit but I would really like to replace all of the suspension for when my truck is loaded down and I get up in the mountains with some rough terrain.
Again, I apologize if this is not the place to ask. I just don’t have many people that I can ask about this stuff

1- not a hot market compared to aftermarket wheels, you might sell them but you're gonna have to wait a while and find the right buyer. I would say don't get your hopes up for anything remotely near what the dealer sticker is. Think more like $400 for the set.

2- Don't use anything that has a spacer in it. It all depends on how far down the rabbit hole (and deep into your wallet/purse) you want to go. Bilstien 5100 and 5160 are good budget options. King, ADS, and Fox are the big 3 but they're all super spendy. All depends on how much wheel travel and adjustability you want.
Put it this way, I'm a little baby compared to a lot of rigs on here and I'm at least $4k deep in my suspension, and still sorting the rear geometry.:anonymous: With that said I have shocks that are custom valved and adjustable for different road conditions, and I will have every little detail spreadsheet'ed out like a looney.:der:

    Still thinking about it.

Good question Tami. My totally unpopular answer would be to leave it stock. But I'm sure some others can direct you to a 2 inch lift that might suit your needs without too many drawbacks. I say stock because you still travel and want good ride quality. There is always a compromise with a lift that violates the stock geometry.

Another crappy after effect is your gas mileage will go down lifting your truck taller.

Stock leaf pack is crap and adding AAL is just a bad bandaid. Simple OME lift with Dakars will allow you to align your taco without new UCA's and the 2" lift doesn't stress anything. another option based on your camping is you could install rear airbags... but I would still replace the crap factory leaf pack first.

Definitely don't do a spacer lift (make your suspension even worse) If you want more comfort off road then Fox, King or Radlo shocks will provide that or the OME with resi . Icon is a hit or miss on reliability right now.

I run really heavy over the last 80k miles on my 2nd gen taco with Radflo 2.5" extended travel resi front and back with OME Dakar leafs with Timbren bumpers and 2 more Dakar AAL for the weight of my camper, drawers and 13-20 gallons of liquid for extended camping. Truck rides like a Caddy when I have 200-300lbs in the back. I'm setup mid-travel with UCA's though.

Another option you have is to get rid of your stock tires and put 255-85-16s on the stock wheels. They will give you a little lift because they are taller than stock. You can choose a tread pattern that is better for some light offroading but still be good on the street. Lastly they will fit with completely stock suspension and no rubbing but they will look decent if you do wind up lifting because they are larger than stock.

Sort of... kind of... after the TSB they got way better but the arch is still minimal which means you kill them really quickly. I'm running stock leaves with upgraded shackles, and it's actually quite cost effective to beat the snot out of a stock TSB pack, then buy a pair off someone who ditched theirs with 1000 miles on them for like $50.

Once I have my travel measurements for the rear I will probably be changing out, maybe to an Icon RXT pack. My biggest issue is there's not a lot of quality packs out there in the low end of 1"-2" lift range.
I always get more lift than advertised because my truck's weight is sub-4000 depending on fuel, and more generic Tacomas beat that by at least 300 pounds.

Nope, my job is mostly physical inspection of production parts. I did just get a call from the operations manager that the decontamination crew is coming in today, so it may be tomorrow when I go back to work.

    John,
Ask the concrete crew to place dowels into the existing slab so the new one won't sink and make a place to stub your toe.
