I had two full AT towers each with two floppy drives and all the other goodies inside. ...and by full towers, I mean they were over 2 feet tall. They, along with a bunch of CRTs and other bits were put out at the curb years ago, when we weren't rural and still had those twice a year. The monitors all ended up getting their cables cut off by scrapers, and the cases were torn apart with the processors and RAM taken. One of the monitors was my prized 21" black Viewsonic CRT that I remember paying $400 for (used), because of the response time and resolution for gaming.

    Man how times have changed...

Times sure have changed, if you had a 17” CRT flat with a .22 pitch? You were god! LoL. I’ve see a windows 3.1 system and old first gen Macs going on eBay for $300-500. Good times

Damn, we're showing some age here. I remember my first comp well. It was the good old Apple IIgs. One of the first comps with a GUI.

Haha, I recently found an old Win95 disc (in box); yes it was an original holographic CD.
I also found my 6-disc set of FreeBSD install CDs circa 1995.

I'm sure my dad still has my old 486 @66hz (the pre-Pentium processor), that probably hasn't been booted since before the win2k epidemic.

I made one a while back with a 10 gallon tank, a pump with a built in a
    I just had a thought.

I think you'd need 2 pumps for this to work.

One pump pulls from the pot of water on the stove and pumps it into the tank.
The other pump pulls from the tank and either pumps it into the pot to further heat the water or you use it to shower.

This might not be all the efficient. An instant hot water heater might be better. On the other hand this would be inexpensive and you already have a stove and a pot. You'd just need water jugs, two pumps, hose, relays, switches and wires.

FreeBSD and Linux where game changers. I still use Linux to this day. I've used just about every distro out there. I stuck with Arch for a long time. A few years ago I got tired of fixing my system every other update and switched over to Mint Cinnamon. Haven't changed since.

I'm now an open source software engineer, and I mainly use Ubuntu and RHEL/CentOS daily.
I never really got into Arch much... I still have some old Gentoo systems, and I also play around with Debian forks like Raspian, but my core is certainly not Windows.

Arch was great because it gave you free range on what packages got installed. If you didn't need it you didn't install it. That kept it super light compared to other distros. Back when memory actually cost money that mattered. Now, not so much. It's also one of the hardest distros to learn your way around. That made it appeal to me. Why use a GUI when you could learn CL? In recent years I just want a working distro that's got all the bells and whistles in the GUI. Mints where I ended up.

Gentoo was my solution to only getting what I wanted.
The stage 1 install would fit in a diskette, and you then downloaded, unpacked, installed, and configured each package you wanted; networking included.

This drive apparently has one of my stage 2 installs on it.
