Man the power on my bike is stupid. Took her on the freeway and there’s no one around so I can’t gauge my speed very well. I look down and I’m pushing 90

After looking at several bikes this is what got me to open the wallet. I do like the power, size/weight, and overall look.

I've been taking short rides here and there doing my break in. It had been idling like a thumper with the rear cylinder not kicking in until about 1500rpm. I ran through everything and traced it down to a poor sealing between the intake manifold and rear head. It was odd too because spraying starting fluid at the seal didn't change the idle at all. Today I stripped it back down, pulled the intake manifold and grabbed some emory cloth. I polished all of the surfaces where the seal makes contact, including a couple of really bad casting seams. I spent a little over an hour polishing, then scrubbed everything with carb cleaner. I put a little grease on the seals and put everything back together being super careful to ensure spacing between the front and rear cylinders was as close as I could get it. Got everything buttoned up and it fired up with the wonderful potato sound I was hoping for.

I took it for a 50 mile ride and found I had overfilled the oil tank. Again. Oil all over the rear fender, rear brake, and tire. I keep forgetting to fill the oil on the side stand instead of on the jack...

It shouldn't have mattered since I went with the amount of oil indicated in the manual (2.8 quarts), but apparently it did. I ended up draining about 3/4 of a quart out to get the level between the lines on the dipstick. I ended up adding a note to the whiteboard in the garage (with a permanent marker) to only use 2 quarts when I do the oil change again at the 500 mile mark.

So, aside from pissing oil everywhere, the bike is starting to break in really nice. The way it idles and the way it pulls at partial throttle is super promising.

Great day for riding! Rode all around the city with my brother, had a total blast. It was cool to cruise downtown and get a different view on the skyscrapers. Usually I’m in the Taco and I don’t even have a sunroof.

Scoot to meet up with @GHOST SHIP today. Nice long ride. Took the freeway there and hauled ass. Took PCH back and took long. My butt hurts. Good times.

Saw a photo of some kid at Manhattan Beach getting harassed at the beach for surfing during the Shelter Order. That really sucks.

Those LA beaches are all closed up pretty good. Further south isn’t closed off yet. Lots are al closed up so no easy parking

Guess I never really looked that closely at the two. I wasn’t crazy about the headlight look on my bike until I put the Givi screen on. It blended in nicely.

20 years of riding and I've never ridden with anybody. None of my friends ride. My dad rides, but he's 4 hours away.

Changed oil and filters last night and went for a nice ride this AM. Lost a rear turn signal lens cover. It was a cheapo from an Amazon LED kit. Guess I'll order another.

I think the updated headlight is a bit too "transformer-y" in looks for me. But my buddy has a 2017 with the updated headlight and his puts mine to shame haha. Would love to have one just for that. I do agree that the wind screen ties it all together nicely.

Yeah, he is a mad man! I think it all comes down to where you ride. If you have access to 45mph roads everywhere and love to explore for cheap you will have a blast on the grom. Used .8 gallons in the first 88 miles and that was full throttle most of the time.
