People always complain about the plastic interior. Bro you basically have 3 material options, ok? Fuckin wood, which is 10 different kinds of dumb, and completely inappropriate in anything that isn’t a chair or a table. Then you got your metals, which are great for the outside, not so good on the inside. Of course the interior is plastic...it’s actually a great idea. It flexes yet holds its shape, is quiet, insulates better. And everything scratches. Wood. Wood is SUPER scratchable. And dents easily. And needs to be maintained. You know what doesn’t scratch that bad? Glass. Maybe we should make the interior out of glass.

Some woods aren't, especially with the right finish.

Wood isn't really the right option. I'm fine with plastic. The plastic Toyota uses is crap. It scratches easy. Other makes don't do this near as bad. Chevrolet is much better. Of course, some do squeak. My last couple of GM vehicles didn't though.

    2002 S10 - No squeak, 251,000 miles
1995 Caprice Wagon - No squeak, 220,000 miles
    2001 GMC Jimmy - Squeaks, 120,000 miles

A towel and fingernail did damage to your interior? I gotta see a pic of this.

Shoulda spent the extra 10K on a sweet Ranger maybe.

I get so many compliments on the interior of my truck. I find it to be durable. They used special plastic in 2017 I think. They new it would be a legendary year.

For something like $125,000 you can start to see carbon fiber. For around $500,000 you can choose wood veneers.

No it was just released behind the pay wall, or I would share it here. It compared the 2017 to the 2022 model, and had a tonne of data from JD Power.

Carbon fiber. That’s exactly what I need during a wreck. Carbon fiber PLASTIC shredding and dismembering me.

And not to mention VW's atrocious panel attachment methods- I watched Meso's video on swapping out the interior trim plastics and was amazed- In the GTI I'd have needed about 10 trim tools, 6 hours and would have never stopped the squeaks afterwards.

I could be wrong, but a buddy of mine was quoted $1100 to replace the dashboard lights in his VW Passat after he gave up trying to get at them. What a shit box that car is. Couldn’t pay me to drive a German car.

The Tacoma is my first non VW in a long time. Aside from the whole dieselgate fiasco I never had a single issue with any of them mechanically. I did however know which years and models to avoid.

Sounds great, but how do you get the blood stains out at the end of the night?

In general I think it's decent, but the gauge cluster screen scratches and the doors scuff too easily.
