Ah understood, sorry for the confusion. I didn't realize the cab light / switch wasn't standard. Can't help you with the wiring but here are the part numbers for the relay/switch. Hopefully someone else that has done it can chime in.

    84267-0C020 - Switch, Cargo Lamp
    90080-87026 - Relay, Deck Lamp

I just installed the oem’s on my 20 SR5 and the hardest part was taking the cover off the connection wire in the truck. Next go around I’ll deff be getting one of the TRD models but I do love this truck now that I have one.

Picked mine up from the dealership yesterday for $65. Installed in about 20 min. Totally worth it.

Will installing them myself void warranty?

He's "trolling" you, internet lingo for joking with you.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson–Moss_Warranty_Act

This federal law protects you from the manufacturer wrongfully denying your warranty claim based on a modification unless they can prove that the part caused the failure. Keep in mind that could be a lengthy process depending on how stubborn the dealership or manufacturer is.

Since this is a Toyota OEM part the risk is pretty low, I installed mine myself; but, I'm very comfortable with DIY modifications. If you're not comfortable you can always take it to a mechanic or link up with one of the kind folks on TacomaWorld and they can, while maintaining a 6' distance, do it for you or guide you through a successful install.

Not installing them yourself doesn't change if the manufacturer could question it as a reason for another device failing (should that ever happen) because it was not originally installed from the port or factory.

Long story short, you'll be fine...but...use your own best judgement.

Check out the instructions on the link below! I plan on installing some on my SR and spent a day just trying to figure out how to install the switch and relay. Check out #7 and #8:

Maybe I missed it in the discussion. Are these 2020 lights a pair per kit or one kit for left and one for either?

And are these just On or Off, or is there’s brightness control?

Another thing, is the 2020 the only gen3 with cutouts, or do earlier years half cutout for optional LED light?

Yup they are a pair which are plug and play. You just have to remove the tail lights and the plug should be there. You can’t control the brightness though.

They are wired into the same circuit as the high mount truck bed light located on the 3rd brake light. If you have that bed light you should have a toggle switch in your cab to have it always on, on with door unlock/open or off. These add on side bed lights follow the same settings. For those without the switch you'll need the switch and relay as some of the folks above have discussed.

I’ve got an 09 with none of that stuff. But I wanted to understand how Toyota engineered that light circuit. I thought the circuit an independent one such that if you turned on the back bed lights and closed the tonneau cover, you might forget they were on.
But if the break bed light is on also it will certainly remind you that you left the lights on. But I would have thought Toyota would have designed an auto-off function.

On the 3rd Gen if you leave the cab illumination light on (parallel circuit to the bed light), the system cuts it off after 20 min.
