NE area wheeling trip plans

Anyone planning a small run anytime soon at the RI spot? (Or MA/CT run)

 

Hopefully soon....

 

Gas is cheap and looks like I amg have some long weekends for the next month or so. Anybody want to plan a Saturday to Monday adventure?

 

Maybe you should stay home instead.

Im not sure what these "RI spots" and "MA/CT runs" that you speak of are but once this blows over and dies down a bit I'd love to tag along. I'd like to do some more adventuring around my neck of the woods.

 

you aren’t far from southwest NH has a lot of good trails.

there’s a decent chunk of woods where ri ma and ct meet. But given the current turbulence I don’t think it makes sense to head into CT for a few days when the trip out could be met by state police at the borders. I’m even doing what I can to not go into seekonk and stay in RI both for my commute to work, groceries, etc. only thing I’m hopping the border for now is gas since seekonk is usually like 30 cents cheaper than RI a mile away, and there’s a stop and shop station and I get gas discounts

I know I’m loony but whatever.

 

Oh yeah I know! I did some roaming around those parts the other day, mainly just dirt roads with a couple short Class VI stints. Difficulty finding them though weirdly. I was able to find a nice little stretch tho! But it doesn't hurt to find even more stuff around plus riding with others is always fun

Yeah with everything going on its kinda scary to go into another state. I saw RI is stopping people with NY plates and forcing them to quarantine. But damn for a 30 cent difference I'd make that trip for sure. And aren't we all a little loony?

 

I don’t know how legit that whole thing is. Wouldn’t surprise me.

I live on the East bay if I go four minutes East I’m in mass and seekonk is the main center for a lot of East bay towns near me, so not really a big deal since geographically it’s not spreading. But still.

 

Oh okay so even if it is legit at least you're on the opposite side! But yeah shouldn't be a big deal since you're practically in MA

 

Yarp. I went out to Big River area yesterday for a mountain bike ride with some coworkers, absolutely nobody was (or really could, to be fair) obeying the distancing rules out there. But what are you going to do, close the outdoors?

 

Seems to me getting lost in the woods is reasonable social distancing measures.

 

I mean I agree but to a point. My opinion is if you can get gas locally, and then not interact with anyone else for the days you are out till you are back in your home town you are not making a ton of impact/risk. But multi day adventures doesn’t always let you do that.

 

for me it’s also talks and screenings of borders. I don’t care if someone goes up into the woods but if they’re up for four days and they decide to close borders and make it annoying to get home, not worth it.

 

Fair point about gassing up. Been paying at pump lately to minimize contact

 

A few mountain towns here in NY have gone as far to close hiking trailheads in their towns. They can't close the outdoors, but they can close access to it through their towns. I guess they don't want people coming into their town and interacting with their locals. Also, if you get hurt and they need to send help, you're now putting an unnecessary strain on an already thin medical response system.

I avoid gas stations by just siphoning gas from random cars in parking lots. #safetyfirst

 

That is perfectly fine, as long as you disinfect their gas cap before and after siphoning the gas.
