They fuck us so bad with taxes daily. I do not feel bad at all for getting some money back from them at all.

Single filing individually AGI $75k or under. Or $150k for married filing jointly.
You lose $5 per every $100 you make over the cut off. So single folks making over $99k get nothing.

Singles get $1,200. Married get $2,400. And you get $500 per dependent.

My wife and I are in the same situation. I’m a federal employee and she works for a non-profit that planned ahead for an event like this. On top of that, we live in a small, relatively poor community where my single income is higher than most families make (and I don’t make much).

We will be spending every bit of that money locally to help out.

We plan to donate a portion of it to a local restaurant that will then offer free kids meals for however long the money lasts.

The way I see it, the folks that need it to pay bills, will most likely pay their bills just to get by. People that don’t need it will hopefully invest it back into their communities to help keep small businesses alive.

Do they base it off your last years pay/income? So like they’d look at my tax filing and go from there? My new job would put me over the threshold, but I can’t imagine they’d be looking at that

They base it off your 2018 or 2019 tax return. I believe whichever is lower. Because not everyone has filed 2019s taxes yet so its not right to penalize you for making over the threshold in 2019 when a guy who made exactly what you did in 2018 and 2019 got a bigger check because he just didn’t file his 2019 yet.

Sweet. Guess I’m getting a check after all! I’ll use it to buy more beer from the local breweries

I picked up 2, 4 packs of this yesterday at one of the breweries. They have a “drive-thru” right now

Same here for the poor area, except I'm single, no kids. I won't get a check but I don't need it since I'm D.O.D and still working as normal. I have been doing my best to buy any food or supplies from local places and have been sure to tip generously.

It’s a nitro can, not CO2. It’s supposed to be poured like that  it cascades very quickly

Except @uhplifted cost of living in CA is so fuckin high $100k/yr is still like poverty.
High cost of living states are getting screwed by this check.

Ya. I wish I made what I do and lived in another state sometimes... oh well. Gas is cheap right now. I’m saving money by not going out to breweries 2-3x a week spending $40+ each time and going out to eat as often either. One day maybe

It's not all that great when you're single with no dependents. I get fucked on income tax and on returns.

I’m saving like nuts. Not buying gas, not going to the grocery store, not buying food/beer out.

I live like a frugal hermit anyways but now its hard core.

Meh. Kids are expensive... and so are spouses (just ask my husband). My husband jokes he should have bought the extended warranty.

I think you got a good deal.
