My shovel and axe have holes at the top where I used rifle cable locks to secure them. Got 2 black ones from Academy for $5 each. If you want a pic of my setup I can get one for you.

I have like a dozen of those rifle locks they are mandated with every sale in cali.
I should start making use of them although sharp dikes easily defeat them.

I should've gotten a shovel and axe with those holes. Sadly, mine do not have them.

Might have to drill some holes into my cheap harbor freight tools ;)

Not the best pic but you can see I put one lock through the shovel handle and my fiskars axe has a tiny hole I slipped the other lock through. Both wrap around the bed bars.

The adjustable in the pic got my attention and then I see the "cheater bar" strap. Can't say I've seen that before. Need to keep that in mind.

Finally got a start to doing this today. I did read up on another post about placing a socket over the bolt head onto the washer and hammering it down. Takes a good amount of hits but once you check on where the washer is hung up, you can walk it down accordingly. Did 3 coats of primer then tomorrow will spray a few coats as well of Rustoleum Semi-Gloss Black Protective Enamel. I expect to have to touch this up when I get it torqued into the bed. I’m mostly crossing my fingers that the current bed bolts will come out in one piece. I will be religiously soaking them in PB Blaster for the next few days.

Good luck braddah! I hope they aren't seized in there. I had to use a vise grip and cheater bar to get one of them out. The impact gun wouldn't even budge it. I am lucky it didn't break. I would slather them in anti-seize when you re-install them. Did you tape the threads before you spray painted?

Mahalos! I get one breaker bar I bought special for this lol. I going follow one veteran member’s advice and slowly jiggle’em back and forth, nice and easy until it starts loosening, hopefully preventing the bolt from breaking. I’m taking every preventive measures I can and will be soaking it in PB Blaster everyday for the next few days. And yep, anti-seize is in the plans! I never tape off the threads, if can kinda tell in the pics, the threads is underneath the pukas, untouched. I had MacGyver that box so that I can hold the bolt from inside with one hand and rotate’em as I spraying. She go for now lol

Alot of tools go missing around here, I just found the 24mm I needed after I finished lol. I ensured the crescent was adjusted extremely tight. I had to wiggle it on. I can't afford to have it strip and the gigantic crescent holds well. It took 3-4 sledgeh hits and a good double wrench method with a huge 1-1/8" as my double.

Rajah. You can see the bolt threads from underneath the bed. Can maybe try clean them up from the bottom before wrenching on them from the top. Thats what mine looked like when I finally got it out.

Yup I stay spraying both the bolt head/washer plus the threads underneath. Good idea, I should clean up the threads as best as can reach lol. Your bolt heads look way cleaner than mine. How you made the splines on the head?
