Well I got my 2020 Tacoma Trd OR and didn’t think to check for a remote start at the dealer, so now I’m looking for one that works and fits since most I’ve seen say they work up to 2019 and i don’t want to buy it and end up not being able to use it

if your truck has an automatic trans and the "SOS" button on the overhead console, try pressing lock 3 times and holding on the 3rd press and see if it starts. I read on here the all automatic 2020s with connected services actually have an undocumented remote start.

Back to your original question, I don't know of any reason why any remote start listed for 16-19 models wouldn't work. I actually transferred my fortin evo one from my 16 A/T to my 17 M/T, but didn't have time to remove it from the 17 when I got the 20 so I bought another one and it works perfectly.

Interesting. Wonder why that is? I know you have to cut 1 wire on the keyed models like mine to make the oem remote work while remote started. Ok I looked up fortins instructions for the 2020 push to start and it seems to be something similar. They have you cut power to the telematics and run it though the remote stater box.

I tried this out today and it worked for my 2020 OR. I was literally looking into buying a kit for $160 and then I saw this. Glad I did. Also I have the Toyota app that allows for remoteconnect and start up using the Toyota app (I'm surprised the dealer didn't mention this to me when I was buying). I'm wondering if pressing lock 3 times only works if you have the remoteconnect subscription active.
