What is different about the pro suspension besides the shock absorbers?

For what it’s worth, i had a 2016 SR5 before my 2020 OR, I have driven both on and off the road and I find the suspensions negligibly different. There is one bump on my commute to work that I think is slightly more jolting in the OR, otherwise I’ve noticed nothing different.

FYI: I’m also in Minnesota, but I don’t have any bouncing problems. You don’t literally mean you are bouncing off the road? Lol

    Haha seriously, you're kidding right?

Pro's are great trucks, the suspension is undeniably better than an OR. That's why you pay more. I can't get over "bouncing like a frog" though, it's hilarious if you picture a bunch of OR's driving down the road like you've described it.

OP, go test drive them both. Go to another dealership and test drive another 2. Then choose like the rest of us did: based on the color.

If you read my other post you would of seen where I said MN roads are very wavy and tend to cause bouncing. The offroad suspension didnt help with these roads. On nice smooth roads it was fine.

Sounds like a lack of funding for your DOT, not a problem with the Taco. Look, I didn't mean to offend you I thought *cough*bullshit*cough* would be obvious as a joke, but I'm over here stuck with this image of my truck doing lunge hops through traffic and you've absolutely made my day better, so I'm sorry if I ruined yours at all.

So this really is the only way for you to actually know. How much better/worse is one over the other...a very subjective thing. To some, a rough ride is a good thing...fro others, it's a bad thing. Any dealership will have both trucks...drive them back to back on the same roads, and compare for yourself.

You didnt ruin my day, but I am thinking of painting my truck green and putting the offroad suspension back on just to keep the theme :)

Many cars ive had over the years bounce on our highway. There is one stretch that is super bad, and I have to drive it everyday. I think the pro suspension just eats up the bumps better.

BTW, I only paid $150 for the pro suspension, $180 to get the one broken strut rebuilt, and $100 for it to get installed. :)

You have the 2nd gen pro bilsteins on your truck? How much lift did it get you up front? I have mine that I took off and my buddy with a 3rd gen might want them depending.

I'll have to agree with the other guys here and just recommend that you test drive them both to see what you think. No matter what others are saying you'll only know for sure once you try them for yourself.

Personally, I have about 4,000 miles in my TRD Off-road (3rd gen) and don't have any complaints whatsoever. About 1,200 of those miles were on a recent road trip and I never had any issues or anything that I'd complain about. I certainly don't find it bouncing down the road.

IMHO, for speedier driving, the factory 3rd gen OR badly needs the Bilstein 6112/5160's, that what I put on my OR, drastic improvement on road, much, much more stable and controlled (no lift). I also changed the factory OR front sway bar to the other one, and also added the Pro wheels (widens the track a bit). IMHO much more stable on road. Yes, the factory OR can be driven around the world, no problem, but its much better with the Bilsteins. My understanding is the Pro is a step up from the Bilsteins. If I buy another 3rd gen, I'll probably get the Pro (again, no lift).

I put the pro’s Fox shocks on mine and it does make quite a difference. I personally feel the rebound and compression damping is spot on perfect for me now. No more pogo sticking and nose diving on the big road dips on my daily drive where I had to slow when approaching ... I can now take at full speed and “float” right over them.

Im starting to think that the as you put it "pogo sticking" is a long bed problem. I see most people who dont have issue with the stock suspension on the offroad have shortbeds.

Certainly possible ... for me it was a real issue (more of a nuisance than a real concern). Do you have a long bed?

I do have a long bed and the bouncing was super annoying. No more though now that I have pro shocks.

I agree ... the bouncing is gone! It’s probably my favorite mod on my OR.

Apologize, I just did. Not trying to marginalize your experience, just sounds like an anomaly
