Stores should have stepped in and rationed that crap as soon as the first dip ship went to check out 100+ rolls.

You know how I can tell the world's gone to shit? I'm on facebook reading and replying to posts. Normally I wait for my wife to tell me someone has posted a cute picture or whatever. (yeah, believe it or not I actually have friends and family I care about. :) )

Much to my dismay many of them are taking facebook quizzes. You know the ones, take this test and find out what kind of forest animal you are. People, seriously, giving up personal information to unknown entities for unknown uses is always a bad idea. Post pictures of your kids, the cookies you just baked, or whatever else you're doing to stay sane in crazy times.

Speaking as an IT guy with mumble years of experience, don't take those quizzes!

Despite being warned many times, a lot of people still do it.

    Sage advice.

I do fine I get a lot out of FB Groups related to my hobbies and activities. FB is what you make of it. I don't do the take-this-quiz or sign-up-for-this-giveaway stuff.

Same. Let's just say at one point in time I was retrieving HOSTS.TXT files on a weekly basis as DNS hadn't yet been invented. :D

I've made a good living telling people not to be stupid and then cleaning up the mess when they are. Still facebook quizzes take stupid to a level beyond just fixing a virus infected computer. Identity theft is not to be toyed with.

You might be as old as me, my first paying gig still used punch tape and cards. I remember the first time I used a terminal. My code had a typo, that I could see but not fix. I said to a coworker "these terminals are terrible. If I had the card deck this would be fixed in a second."

LOL. You're a little bit ahead of me, my early days involved VT100 terminals / 3270 emulation -- I dodged punchcards by a little bit.

    My first system was a Sperry/Unisys 1100/63.

I watched a grown ass man drop a 2-tier stack of punch cards, then cry.

We were not sad when we replaced the card and tape readers with tape drives. Huge step up.

Sadly, at the time I was on mid shift and my job was to clean the printers, run the next day's print jobs, decollate, and burst checks and pay stubs. Filthy grunt work.

I'll never forget the sound of the head crash on a 40MB platter.

I still have a working VT100 terminal attached to my PBX, though I generally use Putty.

Divorce rates jumping in corona-quarantined couples

    By Emily Smith

    March 24, 2020 | 9:00pm

Divorce filings are skyrocketing from quarantine-weary and financially stressed couples, according to top matrimonial attorneys, who are experiencing a 50 percent rise in inquiries from potential clients.

According to leading Manhattan family-law experts, some couples forced to spend time together while quarantined in cramped apartments or even in palatial pads haven’t fared well during the coronavirus outbreak.

Making matters worse, dramatic sways in the financial markets will further spur a wave of wealthy divorces, because richer spouses may decide they want out while their net worth dips — potentially helping them avoid larger settlements, legal experts say.

NYC power divorce attorney William D. Zabel, a founding partner of Schulte Roth & Zabel, told Page Six, “We’ve had an increased amount of calls in the past week from people seeking representation for divorce proceedings, a 50 percent increase, and I have been hearing the same from my colleagues at other firms.”

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you because I was working on classified Air Force projects. (no shit) Truth be told, while my coworkers and I were working on classified projects, the AP and other news organizations were reporting them in the press.

Head crashes were a regular thing with us too. Plus now you've got a 40 meg drive that's unusable and classified.

I love a good IT leg lifting contest :curls:

Reminds me of this scene from Jaws

The end of the scene where the sheriff looks at his appendix scar is like the intern saying his first computer ran windows 10.
