We have lots of California King snakes around. They eat rattlers. There are rattlers too though. I put 1/4 mesh around the back yard and below the gates to keep both out.

 

We have king snakes also. I usually let them all go unless they're in a camp or building. The one's in camp we relocate. They ones in buildings usually have a short life. I've located a few from buildings from on the mesa to down in the washes and have had them come back. I could carry them further but don't have time to be packing snakes all over the country. Anything besides a rattler can stay to help keep the rodents under control.

 

I was told they dropped 'hole' from the name, trying to be upscale.

You know you're in snake country when you have a set of tongs at the back door.

 

We keep snake sticks in our trucks this time of year. Usually a shovel handle works really good. Pick them up, put them in a 5 gallon bucket and finagle the lid on somehow without getting your head and hands close.

I just stumbled on these videos and it was a nice trip down memory lane.
I was ten in 1978 which was towards the end of the Schwinn Stingray era,
but I had three older brothers so I definitely learned how ride on their Schwinn Stingrays..
