Making too much money is a good problem to have for sure. Even if you do gotta pay hefty taxes.

omg. Kids are SO much more expensive than some measly "dependent" exemption. We spend over $1k per month JUST in gymnastics....then there is dance, swimmiung, food, tablets, clothings, xmas, east, bdays, bday parties. Kids are not allowed outside anymore so it is all $$activities activities... JesusFK. Kids are like $25K each a year!!! Then, overpriced college... etc. OH, and we could have 1/2 the house we have if there were no kids... lol. SO.. just saying, you are sort of getting screwed by the gvmt stealing your $, I hear ya, but you are saving a FKN bundle not having kids lol

I admit, I would not change having kids. I would try to figure out a way and limit my wife's spending on them if I could start over, LOL.

I wonder how many people would have kids if presented a bill for them up front? It might be the same as if people were given a FULL bill for how much the government costs every year up front to be paid in full, not removed unwillingly monthly from their checks and borrowed. 90% of people would say FK NO.

Took the dogs for a jog tonight, not bad for my first jog in a long time (I’ve been sprinting at the end of our walks) and I’ve got to work with Smokey about keeping a pace, not stopping at mailboxes, and most importantly, not crossing in front of me and slowing down.

    This.

And taxes in the US outside of a few states are really not that bad. And its free choice to live in those places.

    Lol yep.

People bitch too much about taxes. But most people don’t have a clue how to do them. So many people get massive refunds each year.

it’s always incredible to me how many grown adults don’t know the difference between a tax refund and a tax return. Yet everyone’s going to bitch about how many taxes they pay.

So people bitch about something they really don’t know.

I’m shocked @Supra TT knows his liability lol most people don’t know. I don’t even know and I manually do my taxes each year LOL

and granite, some states have complex taxes and we don’t teach people how to pay taxes in high school so I get that has a lot to do with it.

I've accepted the taxes, it keeps going up as my pay goes up. It is what it is. I always claim 0 throughout the year too, and then 1 when I file. I know many hate that idea, but that's ok, because like, that's your opinion, man.

But for real, I do it to help me control some spending. I typically get around $1800 back between state/fed (total obv). This helps me utilize that money for important shit (this year a wedding). I know for a fact I'd have 1800 less if I just claimed 1 the entire year and got around almost nothing back come tax time.

$1,800 while it would make me upset to get back, is not nearly as bad as a lot of people.
Average tax refund is $2,800. I know people who get $5-$7k back a year.
I’d die I see it as I could have that money in investments all year not an interest free loan to uncle sam, but thats me. Or shit even if I just spent the money. I just don’t like the idea of giving out free money I could use month to month. But I’m a controlling person and thats my problem.

The new W4 is better though. The previous one where you claim exemptions was awful.

I finally have gotten my taxes to where I get nothing back federal and usually owe like $10 state.

What I hate is seeing my gross pay and thinking "yeah that's nice!" Then seeing net pay and being like "wtf!? Where did it all go?!"

Thats why I always focus on take home lol.

The only time I really look at my pay stub and get upset is the Medicare/SS tax. That 7.6% pisses me the fuck off.

    So I ignore that line.

fell down the stairs last night...fml. nothing terrible, but some sore spots this am from trying to keep myself from going ass over teakettle. Knee and wrist are a bit shitty right now...ugh

I am missing a few tendons in my left ankle, so if I am not careful I go over on it and cant recover...i probably do it like 6x a year. yesterday was going down stairs. lol. On a positive note, i never actually sprain that ankle anymore as there's nothing left to sprain.

TM? I have the pocket monkii (like a TRX strap but more mobile) that I bought off a kickstarter a year or two ago now. I got a lot of use out of this before COVID and now im super happy i bought this off kickstarter. I just need to figure out how to get it to mount vertically for the vertical work (note: I know monkii sells a $35 strap with a fancy carabiner that I could buy, but i just feel like I could make something with my 1" webbing, my speedy awl, and soem time). I dont really have a way to get it onto soemthing high enough and get it down without a ladder, since the hand straps are so long, even with the length adjustments, it just isnt enough. I did find a pull up bar at a local park and will be working with it.

I dont think there will be a cure. There will be attempts at vaccines (like the flu vaccine) but idk I dont have a lot of faith in that right now, guess im a pessimist

    ^^^^THIS.
I talked to the wife and was like can we just put it straight into the brokerage account? she said sure. So thats where its going. Market is cheap and I set a reminder in my calendar to check the market after people post their quarterly earnings statements because I have a feeling there will be a dip after that... but thats my feelings and you may feel differently...

I am going to dispute the bolded bit a little bit. I do not think its exactly free choice to live where you live. You might think it is but hear me out. You have to have enough freedom and income to use it to move aruond. Or have a support net to help you get out of those places. Its not that easy, if you are a renter, on minimum wage, have no support system to help you get out of there, or many other reasons that might keep you there even if you dont want to be there. Its easier to keep what you have and know (even if its more expensive/difficult/etc. its what YOU KNOW) than give it up for uncertainty. Sometimes the risk pays off and soemtimes it doesnt. Just trying to get you to see the other side of that. People stay in shitty, toxic jobs for the same reason even though its their 'free choice', its a stability and comfort in the 'known' vs trading to the unknown. Not saying its the right thing to do at all, just saying I can understand why people do it.

    GYM/FITNESS UPDATE:
My gym is not closed. Luckily the public does not have access to it (employees only, and a specific subset of gym membership employees which lowers that number as well). The employee group that runs the gym setup a google doc that has a schedule on it, so only one person can access it at a time. I got in my first workout in there yesterday in a couple of weeks and it felt so good! I slid on some progress on some of my lifts but I didnt care, getting in there, getting my heart pounding, getting my sweat on under the weight with the clanking iron felt awesome, def a stress release. The only thing I didnt lose a little progress on what standing OHP which was tough for me, but I didnt have to deload which was mentally AWESOME! Everything else was a slight deload, but thats okay.

wife and I went for a mile run on Saturday, and today we will go for another mile run. I am not the fastest runner but I am working to some goals here that will take some time and a lot more miles to attain. jsut gotta keep going!

In addition to running, the wife and I have been doing 30 days of HIIT. This is all body weight and this website (darebee) has a metric shitton of options for workouts, check it out if you want and you might find something you want to do.

    Progress check:
    1. Unassisted Pistol Squat: Still working on this. Its hard but my mobility is improving and I have been working on these in an assisted manned with my monkii strap and with split squats.
    2. Unassisted handstand: still working on this too. I can hold "crow pose" for a longer time and breathe through it. I also like to do 1min hollow wall leans (by walking my feet up the wall) at the end of my workouts and get a good shoulder burn but also to get my body used to having the blood rush to my head and working through it.
    3. Unassisted (pullup CHANGE) chinup: I cant do an unassisted pull up palms away from me, it bothers my left shoulder as i get close to getting my chin above the bar. LIke it sticks and gets crunchy and I cannot get it to continue. I have moved to chin up (palms to me) and am really the closest to this goal out of all three of these. I am doign jumping negatives, and feeling stronger and easier everytime. I think i will be able to get this one the soonest, but I will keep working on it.

    I hope everything is alright.

Glad you didn’t get really hurt.
    TM = Treadmill

I understand its hard to move. I’ve moved 13 times. I’m an Air Force brat so I’m not gonna have too much empathy for the fact that its too difficult to do. Its a fact of life for military folks.
Its expensive, its scary, its stressful, but you can do it. Same for people in shit jobs. You can leave you just choose not to.
Obviously there are always extreme situations that strap some people down but generally you control that aspect of your life.

I’m just the type of person that refuses to have a victim mentality. I control my life and my destiny. I chose who I’m around and I chose the course of my life.
You can waste a lot of time worrying about those things out of your control or you can focus your energy on those things you do control.

I do certainly understand why people stay in certain jobs/places but it being a hard decision doesn’t mean its not doable.

Look at us all here. We make the hard choice to get our asses up and lift and watch what we eat to get strong or look bad ass in a mirror. Its a choice.
