I had a C-class AMG mercedes that was around 30k for base model, but the AMG model was 55k. It had a big v8, new transmission and suspension, and upgraded nappa leather seats, but the rest of the interior was still base model C-class. Hard to swallow that the base model e-class, around 45k had a nicer interior than my car but it is what it is.

This is the important issue this thread needs to be discussing.

Because people act like this is new. People like to come here and complain about their new truck scratching easily and want to imply it's new or a defect with the 3rd gen. My FJ which I bought new in 08 would scratch the plastic if you sneezed on it. And an FJ had acres of the shitty plastic.

    Also, trim your nails OP.

Does anyone have the part numbers for the clear plastic over the P,D,R etc. in an automatic ?

And also the plastic for the cup holder?

I seen them here somewhere and can’t seem to find it now.

Probably the most dramatic thing is really, the picture I used for the thumbnail for the video, that shows the Upholsterer holding "before and after" that shows one panel done, and the other before it was done. You can really see the difference in that pic. I know people have their own opinions, but man, to me, that pic shows the HUGE difference in stock panels and upholstered panels!

It’s almost as if people think that 34k will get them a magic material that is so hard that it won’t scratch, yet still have the properties of a lightweight and flexible surface that is pleasant to the touch in a wide range of temps. And that fords and cherbys have that material. And because 34k means the world fucking OWES you.

Fuck outta here. NASA hasn’t even made that material yet.

I love the plastic. So easy to clean after hitting the trails. Obviously would make the mall crawlers mad. They’re about bling and not capabilities of a off road truck.

Well that's not entirely true and you know it.

We could tile the interiors with the ceramic that NASA uses on the outside of the shuttle. Pretty sure that's incredibly scratch resistant. Should only take a supercharged V10, to get the same power once you make up for the additional weight, but dudes cup holder would be totally safe.

Yes but it’s a brittle veneer if I recall

It is not soft, flexible, and pleasant to the touch

I don't know, but to me, yes, it is a truck, but nowadays a lot of trucks are more luxurious than some cars. Even my last truck, a 96 Tacoma Xtracab, was never purchased to be a 'truck', but more of an everyday vehicle. That is probably why it was maintained so well and still looked like it did when I bought it, inside and out, when I sold it in April of 2019, for $6700 cash. My new 2019 TRD Sport will be treated much the same way, although I consider this truck to be my 'dream truck', as it has everything on it that I ever wanted.

OMG for 34k that should have been developed and used instead of truck painting paint.

Who even does that though? The interior of my '10 Frontier isn't showing much wear at all. The soft plastics scuff easily but they just wipe away with a cloth and soapy water. The hard plastics are the same as anything else I've owned.
