I agree long term. Possible there’s a better buying opportunity yet, could argue the non essential shopping in large groups could be one if the last things to bounce back. Their management has been relatively solid though

I am going to buy some O today. I may be wrong, but I don't see them cutting their dividend (even though they're retail). They just reached Dividend Aristocrat status a few months ago, I would imagine protecting their dividend is a top priority.

I may jump back into tabacco stocks and buy PM if it gets near its 52 week low again. Altria made me a shirt ton of money over the years, but being primarily domestic and no national decrimilizarion of pot in the near future im glad I sold it. PM being international and with the global recession would be a good investment I think.

You guys got to stop listing all these stocks. I end up checking them out and they end up becoming my "watched" stocks. The damn list is getting pretty long. LOL.

The damn cookies that get loaded cause me to get news feeds on these companies as well.

set a buy for $50 for 10 shares. may seem like peanuts to some but when it rises back up and dividend comes back it will be a nice little extra cash. trying to load up on higher-dividend stocks for down the road.

We are the product, and the advertisers are the customers. I can't believe it crept into that over the last several years, it's crazy.

Alright everyone, I've been following this thread for some time but have no experience in trading. It's something that has always intrigued me and the recent market shift has my attention. I've just never followed through on actually putting money into the market. Any advise for a beginner?

I'm not looking to dump a bunch of money in right now as there are so many unknowns. I want to start educating myself though. What trading programs do you all use/prefer? How do you analyze an investment to make the decision of what to buy/sell? Etc. I know I can go the broker route and let them make these decisions but I'd like to have a little knowledge and maybe a little freedom to make investments myself and learn the market. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I apologize if this isn't the proper thread. Send me a DM if you want to keep the thread clean. Thanks!

Judging by your garage sale thread you've already got the correct idea for any type of trading. Buy low, sell high.

I use E-Trade for my platform. I manage both my individual account and my IRA myself.

There's more trading strategies then there are questions about what tire will fit in the 3rd Gen section so I won't bother covering them. If you want long term growth stick with large cap blue chips. Once you get a feel for the market you can then decide whether higher risk trading strategies are for you.

To me, this is the universal buy signal. When others are scared, you should buy. Easier said than done, as fear is a strong emotion. I don't think you can go wrong getting in now though, at peak fear.

Other good choices: Charles Schwab / Vanguard / Chase (only if you are an existing customer).

I would advise buying VTI if you want to jump in now. As you learn more then you can start picking companies.

Hahaha my problem is I can't get them off my damn feed even if I dont follow them. As soon as I sell a stock I drop it from my feed to avoid sellers remorse. Damn google cards!!

To the person asking about trading platforms, I use fidelity and like it. I have always had great customer service with them and the research tools are pretty good as well. I like it so much I pulled all my investments from my family's stock brokerage firm and moved it over to fidelity, that made for some fun dinner conversations at the holidays.

Its going to be a little trickey to do some classic company fundamental research due to 2020 being a dumpster fire writeoff at this point, but I tell people to look at stuff people commonly use, compare it to the moveing average of the stock price and buy it if it seems like a good deal to you. If it's close to its 52week high, dont buy it, if it's down by the 52 week low, buy it. You also cant go wrong with index funds for long term investing.

Disclaimer I'm just an idiot on the internet, it's your money invest how you want to and dont think my advice will actually make you any money and you very well could lose your ass listening to me.

Aside from pouncing on VTI who else is waiting on real estate to tank?

Do you mean publicly traded real estate (REITs), or physical real estate? My REITs have more than tanked already, but my house has steadily gone up in value over the last few months.
