The Taco will be 3 inches longer and 2 wider. The Tundra will match the dimensions of the F250. Toyota will introduce a new competitor to the compact truck market. They are going to call it the Talik. It wont sell and will be canceled less than five years into production, but starting in 2050 will be a prized possession in the collectors market.

The front end of the new Chevy 2500/3500 HD trucks is as flat as a pancake and almost comical in appearance.

I hear new gen. and I cringe. I was a 2014 Ram owner and when the new 19 (5th gen.) came out I jumped in quickly and then quickly learned that I was a beta tester. The 4th gen. Rams had their quirks so when the 5th gen. came out with a new suspension, style and interior, I thought this was going to be the best they ever made....NOT! They kept most of the 4th gen. issues and introduced a bunch of new ones. Even the 2020s have many of the same issues the 19 has, they refuse to correct them or train their mechanics how to fix them.

Needless to say, it was a major reason I came back to the old reliable Toyota. I hope Toyota thoroughly tests their next gen as it’s the last manufacturer that I feel puts out a quality vehicle.

That’s FCA for you. It’s all about the numbers and spitting vehicles out of the assembly plants as fast as possible. I just read an article where FCA has been trying to jam vehicles down dealership throats even though they were never ordered.

WHATEVER Toyota decides to do in 2024 with the Tacoma (I assume overall dimensions will be very similar to current model), I'm going to sit back and watch the $hitshow of recalls and TSBs for three years before even thinking about trading in to one. All Toyota launches seem plagued with not-so-minor hiccups these days.

That said, FCA is pushing the envelope in terms of development and innovation and Toyota is way behind. My friend loves his 2019 RAM.

Slightly larger. Toyota engineers need more space for additional cup holders :D

I think this is spot on. Just like the Honda Civic was a teeny tiny car 30 years ago, now not so tiny but the Fit effectively fills that segment.

However, I am hopeful that the "Toyota Talik" survives for more than 5 years. Hyundai and Ford both have plans for a true compact pickup. It will be interesting to see how that segment performs.

i don’t want thirty year old technology. In thirty years, I want an EV truck that goes 300 miles on a three minute charge. I’ll sell you my 2015 in 2025 and buy the hybrid. And, it will be less the $70k

The Tacoma, the hilux, the landcruiser, the sequoia, the tundra, the LX and GX are all supposed to share the same platform. The Tundra got delayed, so they may be having issues with this share platform already. Probably should just stick the 2nd gen.

Same plat form just means the size can be scaled up and down with same or similar components. Everyone is already doing it with their trucks. Toyota is just catching on.....way late, as usual.

The complex electronics in today’s cars seem to be hitting every automaker hard in the recall area. The tranny and engine are pretty bulletproof in the 3rd generation other than the rare timing chain cover leak.

This has been brought up a few times without anything to back it up

    But logic says no

the mommy mobile 4 runner and heavy duty 70 series truck arnt getting the same components

Yeah the tundra and tacoma will probably share platforms but not everything with a frame and axle

It's definitely going to be bigger as they have to stick the Turbo Charged Diesel V8 under the hood.

Knowing Toyota, they’ll bolt two 2.7s together. They still have 20 years left on that run for the 2.7 fanboys.

The current 2.7 is still as good for boost as the old 2.7 right?
