Power gains at WOT not much. But driveability gains are huge (especially if automatic due to the ability to tune the transmission). Mpg gains under load are pretty darn good as well.

The question posed was how to tune without paying for credits.

Apparently it took a rocket engineer to figure this out. No matter, ill let you know how i go. For those interested, we cracked the Tacoma/Hilux immob issue. And shortly Audm cars will be Taco ecu friendly and tuneble

Maybe a rocket engineer can figure out it's not publicly accepted to circumvent an honest company's revenue stream on a thread that that company replies and follows. C'mon man. Head outta yer arse.

Actually, no. It wouldn’t be ok. One set of credits for each truck. Now, if you get a spare ECU for a single truck and want to swap it out, then I wouldn’t have an issue. I would wonder what @HPTuners would think of this.

Can you share this with me? I've asked around before and people must think I am going to go on a grand theft auto spree or something because they won't pass the knowledge on.

I'd just like to disable immo so I can run any key, as well as swap between two ECUs without doing the 30min immo handshake.

    Thanks,
    Steve

I think they cracked the kline / canbus problem... IMMO still is in use.

    Used to have an

IMMOBILIZER off Free for everyone thread.

There are a couple other forums around the flashing, files, tuning, software, etc. If you are really interested. I can post them up tomorrow. I'm working on the top end right now.

You will notice an improvement on the butt dyno, don't expect neck breaking gains though. Still worth every penny imo.

I'm looking for that switch. The switch that says I just drove 500 miles pavement now I'm in the dirt, give me throttle response. Then 100 dirt miles later, I'm back on pavement, give me the switch for fuel economy on the pavement. What am I looking for (tuner wise)?
My best example is driving Sacramento to Baja on I5, first tank mpg is under 15, 2nd tank is about 19 mpg, then over grapevine and thru LA, 22 mpg. Give me the switch in sac to get 22 mpg. Is there such a device?

your right foot. honestly this is just landscape that is effecting your mileage. a tune isnt going to do a whole lot to that and itd be more of a hassle to swap between tunes on the road.

I honestly think if I had found a manual I wouldn't be considering a tune but it's really hard to enjoy this truck coming from a manual

Its simply a mater of load. A tune is going to make the truck not run nearly as rich under load which should net better under load mpgs. That stated with areodynamics of a brick there is no secret sauce to get good mpgs other than simply slow down. You will see +2mpg going 65 vs 75.

Manuals suffer from revhang and all the same throttle mapping "issues" that the autos do.
