My truck has had a Sony headunit from about 2010 in it since I bought the thing. Today I swapped it for a Kenwood BT one. Between my phone and/or a USB drive full of music I should be good to go without worrying about CDs.

I also installed my new 2 ft Firestik CB antenna to replace the 4ft one I broke, put a Hella universal horn in the factory location, and rigged up a new washer bottle made out of a Nalgene

True, but how often do you change tires? (I have been doing at least 1x a year with my used tire bullshit)

I promised myself I'd buy a brandy new set when I finish the wheels so I don't have to worry about it.

Bolted on the outer bead. Couldn't get the inner to seat with the 30gal compressor and a ratchet strap around the tire so I'll have to have a shop do that. I'm excited to see how it fits and hopefully that this setup will work without having to narrow the wheel like I originally thought

Oh, and I have pics and video from Moab that I still need to sort through and upload :burp:

    @Sub-Zero

On the first day we ran Pickle and Mashed Potato

Lots of squeezing through the tight gaps in the pickle.

My truck didn't make it through unscathed. The bumper probably saved my taillight though :D

Not like that bedside isn't already messed up. Oh well. Inspiration for that bed bob I've been contemplating for the last year

It is a good thing that we both brought trailers...

Pickle and Mashed Potato ended up with us limping Ryan's truck making angry crunchy rear diff noises back to the trailhead. We all hopped in my Tacoma, drove back to camp and grabbed my truck/trailer (mine was hooked up and his wasn't), and then drove back for his and loaded it up in the dark. Made for a bit of a long day.

With Ryan's truck out of order we decided to run Top of the World next day; I could wheel while the rest of the gang bike/hiked their way up.

Good news! I made it. The view is still beautiful as ever :D

Bad news! I broke a rear axle shaft 300 yards from the Top. It took out the end of the spindle, the lock washer, and the outer lock nut with it. We cleaned out all the broken pieces as best we could, removed the drive slug, and pushed on since the top was so close. I had a spare shaft but given the condition of the spindle we couldn't get the broken one out

I am a little disappointed given how light my truck is but it is what it is. Also, the setup was used and came from under at least 2 trucks before mine so I can't attest to the abuse that the shafts went through before me...but I want to replace both because the spare that came with it is already twisting too. Moser/RCV/Dutchman customer service all see to be unavailable so ordering hasn't been the easiest. Seems like I will be able to order through vendors on Pirate though.

I've thought about switching to manual hubs in the rear. They would likely be the first thing to break and be easy to change. On the other hand I'm running a t case parking brake; if someone unlocked a rear hub as a prank and the diff is unlocked the truck is gonna roll away...

Current setup is 19 spline outers on the rear -- I could have 30 spline shafts made but that would make the gears the weakest link in the setup

For fun here's how a Toyota 30 spline inner (left) compares to a factory 14 bolt inner

This is driving me crazy because I want to put things back together now!

Since the dana 44 hub got damaged by the blown up shaft I decided I ought to replace it for peace of mind. It's cheaper to buy a new rotor with the hub and lug studs pressed in than it is to buy a new hub and lug studs on its own...and less effort since I wouldn't have to press any of that out/in. I have that setup, new wheel bearings, and new brake pads on order.

I am also in contact with RCV to order new shafts but they are currently on limited customer service only due to shelter in place orders. I am thinking I will go to 30 spline outers for the strength increase over the 19 spline setup; I don't think I will be blowing up my ring and pinion on 35s or even 37s... I've been wrong before though :D

Good question, the Moog LBJs were still tight when I checked them before Moab. I need to shake down the rest of the front end; I either killed my PS pump or bent something in the front end because steering takes a huge amount of effort.

I want to get the Duramax out of the way before I put the Tacoma under again though.

Oh, I did hit all 32 of the bolts on my experiment wheel with the torque wrench this weekend. What a PITA  Still need to go have the inner bead seated but what's the rush :D
