Heck no. The first side I used a dull blade (which I not know was dull until I swapped it). So there was a bunch of paint chipping. The other side is a little better with the fresh blade. I have some fender trim to cover it.

Now if it would stop raining so I can paint it. I think this week should have a couple days of sun.

Sounds like you were using a manual saw? I have a dremel that I used by plugging into my bed socket to trim up my custom tail lights. It didn’t have any paint chips and cut pretty smooth...I recommend the investment if you have to trim any more in the future.

I used a jig saw. I have just about every cutting tool you can imagine. I did jig saw because it’s faster and cuts a straighter line than a dremel or cut off wheel. Especially when cut is maybe 2 feet long.

I think in those case it was either the paint quality or fiberglass quality. I cut my road runner fenders without issue but they weren’t painted.

Either way that’s what fender trim is for. Hiding bad cuts. ;)

Are you running the 3in fenders? And 37s with the Total Chaos 3.5 kit clears just fine?

37s don’t clear just fine with any kit, always lots of cutting pretty much everywhere.

I understand that. I was just wondering if the with this setup the 3in fenders will clear or if you need to run the 6in.

I doubt they would clear with either, I’m running 37” ko2s, they’re like the smallest 37” tire around and I had to trim my fenders entire wheel well, granted I have the solo xlt kit so little different

Nope I have the six inch version. I wouldn’t say they clear fine. They clear fine on street if I don’t hit full lock. Off road it’s a little worse on how far I can steer. Straight they clear fine full cycle.

They clear the fenders 100% lock to lock. It’s the wheel well they don’t clear.

Doesnt seem very effective there. I would either ditch it, add a mount to you bed cage going straight up to cab height that gives it a good visible place to mount or add a roof rack and have it on the back bar.

I've seen a few of the Meso BD5's go up for sale second hand recently. Only reason I've never got one is because of my RTT blocking it almost all the time. Thought about adding a chase light but my racks to short for a chase light with my swing out and the spare tire would block 2/3rds of it.

Nice truck! I dunno how I’ve never seen this thread or your truck around town. I live just a few miles south of you. I usually mentally keep track of all the local rigs that aren’t typical spacer lift and tires with a Tepui on top.

Tepuis are like a virus around here (don’t get me wrong, I have one) but Jesus Christ, if anyone has ever been to Santa Cruz or the South Bay they’d know about all the random unused Teupis. They’re just as common as “board room” license plate frame on someone’s car who can’t skate or surf.

Welcome to the land of the crazies! You’ll need that truck to fight off the bums, junkies and psycho drivers around here. I didn’t go through the entire thread but all the snowy pics in the beginning looked like the eastern Sierras or something but then I skipped to the end and barely saw the architecture of the house behind your truck and thought “fuck yeah that looks like Santa Cruz”.

I do like my Tepui but I’ve sorta of become anti overland, lol. It’s crazy all the kitted our trucks here that barely see dirt or modest trails. I remember getting a Tepui back in the day, I went to Evans house and he rolled up ten minutes late wearing a wet suit and carrying a surf board. Then you’d go to a warehouse and pick up the product. He’s actually a really cool guy and it’s crazy to see how big they got. Then Thule acquired them for 10 million if I remember a recent article correctly. Anyway, enough ranting, time to brave 17 and hopefully not get another cracked windshield on my new truck.

lol it’s true, detached garages were a thing around here. I used to live in Cupertino and a lot of the houses there have a two car detached garage. I think because of how expensive housing is they get turned into rental units or mother in law suits.

The other thing you’ll notice about Santa Cruz is all the home owners DIY stuff, which is cool, but they’ll spend two years redoing a fence or a yard when it could be banged out in like 2-3 hard weekends. It’s kind of funny watching the progress.
