Anyone know where the bluetooth module is for the 3rd gen? I'm troubleshooting an aftermarket stereo and that may be causing an issue. The manufacturer told me it was under the passenger seat but all I see is an occupant detection computer. My google-fu isn't coming up with anything and the search here didn't help either.

What do you mean? Reason I ask is because in my VW, I changed out the stereo and the new one had bluetooth built it, so I had to disconnect the OEM module that was in the console. Wondering if the Tacoma has the same kind of setup.

To actually answer your question, I believe the bluetooth module is actually built into the entune radio. There is a mic for the bluetooth that is in the overhead console.

That's what I suspected. Just wanted to check before I started looking for something that wasn't there. Thank you both!

So what you are saying is, if you remove the head unit, the bluetooth continues to operate, because it's a separate module, but not connected to anything. So when you install the new head unit, and try to sync the new unit with your phone, there will be two possible connections, one good one and one bad one. Correct?

That's what I'm wondering. But others believe it's all contained in the OEM stereo.

I saw your truck later today. You got the racks on the cap and the cab right? Beautiful truck. I was just wondering what you were going to do once you found the module. Those things are super expensive and someday you may need it, however I think it's in the head unit itself. You have to remember those Germans make shit difficult on everything....lmao.

Was that you in the black Tacoma with the bed rack and matte black ikamper looking rtt? on I-17 around 2pm?

If there was a bluetooth module, I'd just unplug it. Leave it where it is in case I have to put the OEM stereo back in.

No I'm in Missouri. I saw your truck on this site. There is another one like yours with a camper top and roof rack. Thought that was you. Still a beautiful truck tho.

Missouri is always a little weird with the winter weather. I lived in KC off and on for about 5 years.
