How do they handle pavement? Rain or snow? Tread life okay for the price?

Dry pavement, rain and snow grip are excellent for a MT tire. Only time they slip is on white pavement paint - stop bars, etc. but tread life / wear has been excellent. I had mine on from October to last week and only took them off to put on my Cooper AT3 set just to wear them out. They aren’t very “roaring” but you do hear them. They all balanced needing very little weight. I don’t know if it has helped but I did rotate them (5 tire rotation) every oil change.

And here I was thinking of getting an aggressive AT/hybrid to replace my KM2s...or KM2s or 3s.

Basically, your review is similar to how I'd review the KM2 at this point in their lifespan. My only reservation about the Nankang's is the tread pattern doesn't appear to have a lot of siping, but not much different than a KM2 actually.
Think I might give these a try. Hopefully they hold up to my driving style and rocks. Just gotta learn myself to not be so throttle happy in turns with the locker.

Anyone local have or know where to get the exhaust mid pipe without spending $850 at the dealer?

    I'm considering those, too.
Also 285/75 because they're everywhere. And a 17" wheel and tire upgrade but... :spending:

Yeah a 255 is great but they are kind of small....If you can successfully fit a 285/75 you are going to gain more ground clearance as they are just physically larger diameter. Even a whole nuther inch is probably worth that, especially since you have the gears ect for it.

I’d like to go 255/80r17 but every tire I’ve seen in that size weighs 50+ and I prefer to stay under 50.

plus I’d likely hit the header of the garage door.

    Nah man. 255/85 are taller than 285/75, 285 are like 32.5"x11-something, 255 are 33.?"x10"
    ...on a 16" wheel
