I have a 1995 Tacoma V6, 4X4, 5 speed. I have a 1997 ECU for exactly the same model truck. I want use the 1997 ECU with my supercharger. (the 1995 ECU will not support the supercharger).I have told to install the 1997. Does the 1997 need to be repinned or is it a plug and play. Both truck are indentical expect for the year made.

Will a smog test detect a different ECU?

    please reply to zhovreboff@qol.com

    Thanks, George

do you know the pins that need to repinned in order to get a 1997 ECU to work in a 1995 Tacoma? Some people have said that it is a plug and play. I suspect that there are differences. Do you know where I could find the information on repinning? (The plugs are indentical and pin count is the same in each plug.)

    Thanks, George

Are you referring to the pages of information on the website that show all the ECUs and the pin function? I have got that. I was wondering if anyone that has done the 1997 exchange for the 1995 and knew what pins had to changed on the 1997 to have it function without throwing and Check Engine Light (CEL). Original truck 1995 Tacoma, V6,4X4, 5 spd. Installing a 1997 ECU on exactly the same model truck. Change done because of supercharger.
I know that some people have a CEL, others do not. What is the secret to no CEL when doing the change.

Does anyone know what E block and what number pin the VSV connects to in a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 4X4, 3.4L V6, 5 speed? I believe the VSV is called the Vacum Switch Valve. It is part of the Evap system.
    Thank you,
    George

Hey George! Not sure if you sorted this out yet or not but I came across a few YouTube videos that explain everything in great detail. Just open YouTube and search "toyota t100 part 21" the channel is LILEVO. Watch videos : part 21, 22 and 23. This guy does a excellent job that even i can follow.
