95% of my side work (music) isn't viable right now and they're trimming OT at the government so that's even more fun.

Have you considered buying tigers and having Netflix make a movie about your life?

IDK about a supercharger, but I sure would love a little more torque.

How do you do music as a side gig?

I was in bands for almost 20 years, and I surely spent way more on beer than I ever got paid for a gig!:D

I'm on stock tires... For now...

I'm fine with it being a slow pig, really. But, if I can squeeze out some extra power, I'd take it. I want to keep it simple for now.

Yeah, but we didn't like what they were giving us for free!

A: I don't drink when I play, or really much at all anymore
B: jazz. Standards and the ability to noodle means corporate or sports gigs pay. They want elevator music
    C: local studio work
D: church music. Doesn't pay a lot, but it's steady and I enjoy most of it

Oh and E: bass player. Always in demand :D

Makes sense. I've thought about actually learning theory and how to play by notation, and maybe try to do some session work.

Unfortunately, as of now, I'm an uneducated hack. I can play the shit out of some Primus tunes, and I can write and improvise, but I don't really know what I'm doing.

What kind of bass do you play?

Mostly electric, got a couple of Fender Jazz basses, 2 of them different Geddy Lee models, an American Special in Candy Cola that I bought from Fender as a factory reject when I worked at Guitar Center, built that up to be a tank. Took it around the country and to Central America.

    Have a Rickenbacker 4003

A Stienberger XT2 (talk about funky)

    And a 1987 Yamaha SHS-10 Keytar :D

    Nice!

I have an old fretless jazz bass, a Warwick Rockbass Streamer, and my pride and joy is a '95 Warwick Thumb 6, NT. the Thumb is really an amazing instrument. I'm quite spoiled to have it.

I miss my old fretless jazz. Sold it when times were tough.

Warwick's are cool. Love their sound, hate their looks, love/hate the way they feel. My best mate had a Warwick Corvette for years with his band, sounded killer. Sold it when he got a Fodera. (to be fair...)

It definitely takes a little getting used to. It's heavy as hell, and tends to be neck-heavy, but I've gotten used to it. The neck is really what's so special about it. It's surprisingly comfortable for a 6 string, and easy to move up and down. Plus, it's rock solid. The sustain and clarity are about as good as it gets.

They require some maintenance. If not cared for, the neck will get sticky and gross. I think all oiled finishes are like that, though.

The Corvette is kind of an entry level bass for Warwick, so I can see how the Fodera would be an upgrade.
