Screenshot_20200331-080324_Chrome.jpg I need 1 of these. For those dumbasses that almost hit the back of my truck 10 times a day and then honk at me.

I have owned 3 manual Toyota's an 86 4WD, 93 2WD and my 01 TRD OR 4WD with 343,xxx miles on it. I also have a 2018 TRD OR DCSB V6 with auto, I don't drive it much, the '01 is my daily driver, the 2.7 4 banger 5 speed is just more fun to drive.

Just got my manual Taco about 2 weeks ago. Almost bought an automatic, thinking manual wouldn't be fun in a truck. Glad I was wrong!

Do a lot of people here run short-shifters? Something I'm considering after lurking through pages on this board.

yes. URD & Core mainly. the URD is a mod kit for your stock shifter. the Core is a whole new shifter.

I run the TRD shortshifter. It’s a noticeable improvement. TRD knob in Grey is a nice touch, but if we’re to do it again I would have spent the extra coin on the FJ one - Black.

With the URD does the shift sit higher? I'm guessing the core keeps has the least affect on height?

I'm also reading a lot about people having to cut or bend the frame by the transmission tunnel... is this true?

Whats the difference between the TRD and the FJ one? Is the URD better?

Does anyone make a shifter that angles back to move the shiftknob back toward the driver?

Has anyone tried the URD improved throwout bearing? I have a feeling mine is taking a shit at only 27k. Whats a failing TO bearing sound like?

I installed the URD heavy flywheel, stage II clutch, and the throwout bearing and sleeve. I also have the TRD short shifter. After 20,000 miles the throwout bearing had to be replaced again. The squeaky manual clutch is the only complaint I have on the entire truck. I Toyota would have done a better job engineering this aspect of the manual transmission.

As far as the heavy flywheel, I will replace it with stock when I am done, it takes too long to put HP to the wheels with the flywheel weight. I did not think it would initially but it is not as much fun on the road, and before I get the flak, I know it is designed for off-road slow going.

I love the TRD short-throw shifter and the TRD shift knob. I do wish it was the black model but over twice the price I am happy with grey.

I like having a truck that is difficult to steal and people do not ask to borrow because they can't drive it. By not asking they do not have to turn in a man card.

How do you like the clutch? What happened to the throwout bearing?

I saw some TRD Short Shifters on the Toyota site. Are those for the 2nd-generation only? Do they have them for the 3rd gen?

Ive never seen a TRD short shifter for the third gen. Just TRD Shift knobs (which are worth it over that stock pos)
