Is that area open? I've been wanting to get out on a trail SO BAD, but LA County closed all the trails, so I haven't been able to ride anything near me.

I'm off all week, waiting to hear about next week. I'm willing to drive out there, would love to go explore the area!

Either one of those bikes would be a win and a substantial improvement over your current steed. I think personally that the Trek has the better suspension (Horst) but it has a 1x10 drivetrain which is a smidge outdated. The product manager was just trying to keep the weight down with that decision. The bikes have identical forks and rear shocks so thats a tie. Price wise it looks like the giant is cheaper. Also they have a wider range of gears on their drivetrain, 1x12. I have owned a Giant Trance but their suspension is different than the Stance so I cannot comment other than I know its likely not as good. The tires appear to be better on the giant as well.

Thanks for the info. From what I have read the Trance does have the newer better frame geometry. I'm also watching local classifieds, but that can be a real crap shoot and the chances of finding a good bike in the right size that isn't close in price to a new one is slim pickens.

Folks, does anyone have experience carrying four bikes on a 1UP Super Duty setup? I looked through more specific threads but didn’t see anyone say much besides “you can do it.” Also, I’ve got a fiberglass camper shell on a 5’ bed SR5 already—I’m concerned about how well the truck handles the weight and wondering whether the shocks or leafs need to be swapped out or not. Thanks for any beta.

Putting that much weight directly on the Receiver can always lighten the front end a bit and affect handling. Just adding up nominal weights of average MTB @ 25-35 lbs each; that’s 100-140 pounds just in bikes, plus the weight of the rack. Add to that the length of that weight extending beyond the pivot point... it’s like adding incremental weight to a balance type scale. Every little bit tips the balance bias a little more.

Upgrading suspension ALWAYS adds value to any vehicle. Just my .02

Just released today! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IWmU55BiLM. Pinkbike under $2000 shootout. Not very favorable on the Giant Stance.

Only thing about the stance is that it has a quick release rear axle. It’s not a huge deal but I personally would avoid that. Performance wise you may or may not notice the difference. When it comes To upgrades on the bike...well it’s not worth it. My old 2011 fuel ex 8 had a QR front and rear, just to give you some perspective.

I’d say you want a bike with boost 148 or super boost 157. To make it worth holding onto for a while. If you plan on riding the new bike for a year or two then selling it then you can disregard what I said haha.

I highly recommend the Trance 29 instead, and it starts at a very friendly $2100. I demoed one several times last year and loved it. In fact, I'd probably buy one if I could find someone to buy my Mojo3.

    not enough.
I haven't personally done it on my truck. But I've had a friend do it on an outback. four bikes. He never complained about an issue other than feeling the weight of the four bikes and rack on the back end. Seemed to handle just fine. but that's on an outback and not a tacoma so....yeah.

sweet man, thanks for the info. I am definitely being respectful of my, and others personal space. I've been really annoyed that others' lack of consideration has ruined it for everyone. The last thing I want to do is contribute to further closures and restrictions.

Dude the used bike market is a war zone out there right now.Demand is thru the roof. I buy/sell alot of bikes and I am getting my ass kicked out there

General sentiment: "Sorry bro I listed the bike for the wrong price and it was actually (insert inflated price) and I'm going to sell it to someone else"

Just picked up a new to me but used 2015 Capra CF yesterday. Will be testing it out tonight at the Luge after work.

Are you seeing that happening at a particular price range or bike type?

Only asking because it seems the prices on much of what I’m watching appear to be becoming more flexible. I think a lot of folks (myself included) are holding off on bigger, non-essential purchases currently.

Stoked on the new RF pad -- fitment is great! Only complaint is the extra pad the give you that goes under the tailgate handle.. it has like 4 "sections" but if you lower it too much it will stick out the bottom, so I folded it in half, but it's making it puff up a little too much. Might cut the pieces into singles or 2x2 and sew it back up. It would be nice if they were all single sections so you could put one above the handle as well.

Otherwise as I said, fitment is great.. it fits on the tailgate and you can adjust the width up top which is very nice... loving the additional padding versus my Dakine DLX pad.
